Always Employ These Four Ingredients For Balanced Growth! Doing These Things Will Help You Keep Moving Forward On The Fishing Journey!

1.) Fishers Need To Worship: Adoring the risen Christ
Pray every day,
all through the day! Spiritual balance inside or outside the fishing
headquarters (the local church) must begin with the proper address …and
we direct all our prayer, praise and worship to the God of the Bible
through Jesus His Son. Worship is expressed in song as well as in
silence, in prayer as well as in praise. Worship is basically a respect
for God’s awesome presence. Fish for Souls exists to cultivate a worshiping evangelistic community—Christians who
revere God, who adore His wonderful Name, who uphold His Word and look
to Him for guidance in connection with His church. Genuine worship keeps
pointing us upward in the vertical axis of our Lord.
2.) Fishers Need Instruction: Pursuing a deeper knowledge of God
Read your Bible
every day and expect God to speak to you! Work through the entire Book.
It’s His love letter to the Christian. To ensure that our worship
doesn’t become misdirected, Fish for Souls must be a
net-work of believers committed to instruction. We all need Bible
teaching and at F4S we turn to God’s Word, the Bible, for
the inexhaustible source of information and nourishment that we need. We
balance the worship of our Lord with solid instruction from His Word to
live and mature as healthy fishers of people.
3.) Fishers Need Fellowship: Living in meaningful relationships
with others
Proactively get together with growing believers in God’s family. The
early church met in the temple and from house to house. Be active in a
healthy church your whole life through and also attend a smaller Bible
study where people can get to know you better. Don’t just go for what you can get or go for a little while and
then bail out. Don’t worry about what others will think about you. Go
prepared, ready to contribute something of God that’s excellent!

Hopefully you will never get hurt at any church, but churches are
flawed because imperfect people attend them. There are healthy flawed
churches led by committed, spiritual, born again pastors, and flawed
sick churches where wierdness rules the day. God wants to build you up
in the former type. And if Christian leaders let you down, ask God to
help you forgive them and press on. Then trust God to heal you. If the
pastor continues to hurt people, won’t listen to humble appeal, won’t
teach the word, won’t repent and won’t live according to the Word, then
trust God to lead you to a healthy church the next Sunday. A growing,
effective Christian life doesn’t happen in isolation. It happens through
meaningful relationships with on-fire Christians. As Proverbs 27:17
says, “As iron sharpens iron, a friend sharpens a friend.” And of course, true fellowship can happen
outside the four walls of a building—it can happen anywhere two or three
saints are gathered in Christ’s Name! But fellowship on the golf course,
in the mountains skiing, at the lake or at the beach surfing for
instance should not replace local church based Bible fellowship. Part of
living a balanced Christian life is caring for others and allowing
others to care for you. We are to share commonly in one another’s lives
as brothers and sisters in Christ.
4.) Fishers Need Expression: Demonstrating and proclaiming the love
of Christ through attitude, selfless deeds and sound communication
Witness
of His love and truth! When the church is functioning as it should in
the previous three areas, its people will naturally want to express
their faith with others inside and outside of the church. Yes, fishing
for souls is the natural outgrowth of a healthy walk with Jesus.
Following Christ’s example, we are to consider others as more important
than ourselves, looking out for their needs as well as our own. The
balance of our fellowship together produces a gracious and compelling
testimony to the world, as we boldly share the Gospel through our words,
demeanor and actions. If maturing Christians or churches neglect any one
of these four areas, then their spiritual health as a whole will suffer.
If we don’t have all of these four areas functioning properly in the
local church and harmoniously working in relationship to one another, it
will be a corpse, not a living body that makes a difference for God’s
Kingdom. In order to fulfill our fishing mission, it’s our duty to help
all Christians find healthy churches and the proper balance of worship,
instruction, fellowship, and expression so they individually will be
healthy.
