Never met him. Said some good things. At 90 he wasn’t out buyin’ green bananas.

-- On planning...
“A plan without action is not a plan. It’s a speech.”
“A fool with a plan can outsmart a genius with no plan.”
“Be willing to make decisions. That’s the most important quality in a good leader. Don’t fall victim to what I call the “ready-aim-aim-aim-aim” syndrome. You must be willing to fire.”
-- On Focus...
“The older I get, the more I see a straight path where I want to go. If you’re going to hunt elephants, don’t get off the trail for a rabbit.”
-- On doing things right and integrity...
‘I’ve given the school a lot of money,” he said in 2013. “But if there is any cheating, I’m through.”
-- The eight-hour rule...
“Work eight hours and sleep eight hours, and make sure that they are not the same eight hours.”
-- On the transparency of leadership, promotion and accountability.
“The higher the monkey climbs the tree the more people can see its (tail-end).”
I say righteously advance in the will of God with the Lord leading you on..cautiously so that you don’t fall from those heights He takes you to.

“The Lord God is my strength; He will make my feet like deer’s feet, and He will make me walk on my high hills.”  Habakkuk 3:19

“It is God who arms me with strength and makes my way perfect. He makes my feet like the feet of a deer and stations me upon the heights. He trains my hands for battle; my arms can bend a bow of bronze. You have given me Your shield of salvation; Your right hand upholds me, and Your gentleness exalts me.”  Psalm 18:33-35

-- Old school communication
“Keep things informal. Talking is the natural way to do business. Writing is great for keeping records and putting down details, but talk generates ideas. Great things come from our luncheon meetings, which consist of a sandwich, a cup of soup, and a good idea or two. No martinis.” said Mr.  T. Boone Pickens. Not sure if he was a Christian, but I like some of what he said. Work hard and smart.
