What kind of dockworker, fisher, or sea captain are you?

What kind of worker are you? What kind of business is your biz?

Got a job or career? What do you want to be like in that? I say.. daily choose to make discipline, determination, and Christ centered diligence a part of your business. Why? Here’s why. It’s cuz...

image

Your business can glorify God when it exhibits his just and kind character, his biblical principles, and his pure love for people instead of for money. You can be used as an effective witness for Christ out in the marketplace. And you can win business people and others to faith in Christ.

Consistent, persistent smart-diligence in these days.. when you are tested believer.. will lead to stability in your life and business.

It'll lead to vitality in your righteous life, and you will have reality in your Christian life.

"But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him." Hebrews 11:6 nkjv

  • “Let’s be diligent in giving, careful in our living, and faithful in our praying.” ~ Jack Hyles
  • “I am afraid that the schools will prove the very gates of hell, unless they diligently labor in explaining the Holy Scriptures and engraving them in the heart of the youth.” ~ Martin Luther
  • “Are you still diligently living for God and serving Him, even in these last days? Now is not the time to ease up, but to charge forward and continue living for the Lord.” ~ Paul Chappell

Most dockworkers enjoy fishing when they are not off-loading crates or containers from the ships. Have you ever been a deckhand a.k.a. a docker (British), a longshoreman, a roustabout, a rig rouster, or a cargo stevedore before?

"Poor is he who works with a negligent and idle hand, But the hand of the diligent makes him rich." Proverbs 10:4 amp

If we refuse to take this challenge from God's word we can expect to have a lack of spiritual power and maturity. The apostle Peter told us this. You'll be short-sided even to blindness. You'll lose proper perception and become an easy target for all the false doctrines floating around. See 2nd Peter 1:9. Pete said, if you do these things you will never stumble.

You really don’t want lukewarm apathy, indifference or spiritual laziness.

“The one who diligently seeks good seeks favor, but the one who searches for evil–it will come to him.” Proverbs 11:27

Revelatory? Yup. We don't need a new revelation we already have God's revelation.. the Bible. If it's new it's not true, and if it's true it's not new. See 2 Peter 1:11, you'll be giving an entrance into heaven that's abundant. It's good to desire such abundance in your future entry, captain. It's not just about going to your destination, it's about the quality of your journey from faith-filled, red-hot-passionate, diligence. Some ships out on the sea barely make it into their port, let that not be you.

Why does Paul say we should mind our own business (1 Thessalonians 4:11)?

What does God tell us? In 2 Peter 1:5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge.

Romans 12:11 not lagging behind in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord.

Everyday be diligent while working as unto the Lord.

Ecclesiastes 9:10 Whatever you find to do with your hands, do it with all your might, because there is neither work nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom in the grave, the place where you will eventually go.

Proverbs 12:27 The lazy do not roast any game, but the diligent feed on the riches of the hunt.

Luke 18:1 Jesus told his disciples a parable about their need to pray all the time and never give up.

Be diligent in following Jesus. Yep, in your studying and wisely applying God’s Word.

Joshua 1:8 This law scroll must not leave your lips! You must memorize it day and night so you can carefully obey all that is written in it. Then you will prosper and be successful.

Deuteronomy 6:17 You must diligently obey the commands of the LORD your God–all the laws and decrees he has given you.

Psalm 119:4-7 You have ordained Your precepts, That we should keep them diligently. Oh that my ways may be established To keep Your statutes! Then I shall not be ashamed When I look upon all Your commandments. I shall give thanks to You with uprightness of heart, When I learn Your righteous judgments.

Work hard and smart for the glory of the Lord.

1 Corinthians 15:58 So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable. Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless.

Proverbs 16:3 Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.

“I know a man, maybe you know him, too
You never can tell; he might even be you
He knelt at the altar, and that was the end
He's saved, and that's all that matters to him
His spiritual tummy, it can't take too much
One day a week, he gets a spiritual lunch
On Sunday, he puts on his spiritual best
And gives his language a spiritual rest

He's just a faaa...
He's just a fat little baby!
Wa, wa, waaaaa...
He wants his bottle, and he don't mean maybe
He sampled solid foods once or twice
But he says doctrine leaves him cold as ice
Ba, ba, ba, ba...ba, ba...ba, ba!

He's been baptized, sanctified, redeemed by the blood
But his daily devotions are stuck in the mud
He knows the books of the Bible and John 3:16
He's got the biggest King James you've ever seen!
I've always wondered if he'll grow up someday
He's momma's boy, and he likes it that way
If you happen to see him, tell him I said,
"He'll never grow, if he never gets fed"
He's just a fat, fat, fat, fat, fat, fa-at, fat...
Fat, Fat, Fat, Fat, Fat, Fa-at, Fat...
Fat, Fat, Fat, Fat, Fat, Fat, Fatttt...
Baby.”

What's he really like, what are you like.. and what now am I like?

God ain’t religious. Nope! Never has been.

So winsome a Person is Jesus instead.  And He loves you! Go check it out, study Him some. Fascinating -- He is! Every world religion if you compare them is based upon works-righteousness. True. And none of our good works are good enough actually.. to get us into right-standing with God the Father. No good works can get us into God’s holy heaven when we die. God is totally pure and holy.

I was raised in the Roman system..a religion.  The well-meaning leaders told me to “be good”, and “do good” (I wanted to.. and yet wasn’t even near perfect), but this religion never gave any of us the power to do so. To be or do good.

Have you ever lied, (exaggerated, told a half truth half lie), or stole anything, or lusted, or used God’s name in vain? Ever gotten angry at another person instead of at their wrong-doin’? I have, but in the Spring of ‘77 while attending Dana Hills High School I turned and trusted Christ -- I was regenerated inside. It was about full on mercy and grace. God forgave and quickened me inside. Yes, my dead human spirit was made alive.

image

In the past we’ve all blown it in sin here and we simply can’t erase that (even by gobs of good works), but God can wash us each clean. Historically, you and I have sinned, but come as you are.. not to me.. to Him.

The Bible says "All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." God is perfect, flawless, and holy, and our sins separate us from the one God forever. The Bible says "The wages of sin is death."

That’s the bad news, and ya gotta hear the bad news to appreciate the good news.

image

What’s your story like? What was my family and story like? What’s the story of your closest friends? Have you become like em in some ways?

We went to the Roman church, but were into sin like a lot of our fairly moral and not so moral friends were. All religions of the world overestimate the goodness of men and women, but Christianity that’s based on Christ’s finished experience of dying on the cross in my places.. in your place.. accurately estimates the righteousness of God that can be freely given to any humble, repentant, believing person. Even to children who turn and trust the Lord.

God the Father doesn’t accept our good or bad works to get us in His Family, but He does accept sinless Jesus, and when you accept Jesus by faith, then guess what.. God the Father accepts you into His family. Our forever family. Christ is the only way in.

image

What’s your spiritual journey been like

You know the gospel writers see things as black and white in the sense that you are either in Christ or not yet in Christ, righteous or unrighteous, saved (a Bible term) or lost spiritually. And that’s how it really is with people. We all need a Savior and there’s only One. Martin Luther accurately saw the spiritually born again Christian as both a saint and sinner (forgiven) -- a saved sinner like I now am. Are you a sinner or now because of saving faith, Calvary, and the cleansing bloodshed of Christ.. a saved sinner?

“And this is that testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life. I have written these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life..”  1 John 5:11-13

image

“’Lord,’ said Thomas, ‘we do not know where You are going, so how can we know the way?’ Jesus answered,I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. If you had known Me, you would know My Father as well. From now on you do know Him and have seen Him.” John 14:5-7

"And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among people by which we must be saved for God has provided the world no alternative for salvation" Acts 4:12

image

Gotta story -- what’s yours like?

Your own story can be like a key that can unlock someone else’s prison doors, believer. True! It’s God alone that does the work of salvation. Yes, It’s really true -- He alone can turn any mess into a message, any test into a testimony, any misery into a ministry for you! But first, you.. each of us.. must turn and trust in Jesus!

John 10:9 - I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.

Hebrews 10:20 - by the new and living way opened for us through the curtain of His body,

Isaiah 35:8, 9 - And an highway shall be there, and a way, and it shall be called The way of holiness; the unclean shall not pass over it; but it shall be for those: the wayfaring men, though fools, shall not err therein..

John 1:4 - In Him (Jesus) was life, and that life was the light of men.

John 1:14 - The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the one and only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.

John 1:17 - For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.

John 10:9 - I am the gate. If anyone enters through Me, he will be saved. He will come in and go out and find pasture.

John 11:25 - Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in Me will live, even though he dies.

- Perhaps you have some questions about cults and world religions
What is the difference between a sect and a cult? Some churches are cultic with some of their practices, but not quite cults because they keep these a secret from most of the people. I've seen some spiritually sick churches. Head for a healthy Bible teaching church with a born again spiritually balanced pastor.

Abide > Strive

"The Son of God.. loved me and gave Himself for me. He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?” See Gal. 2:20, Rom. 8:32

God delights to bless us and be with us. Yes, wants to bless us, but He's far better than all his blessings put together.

God loves to help and use us, and He wants to help us every day. Isn’t that a great thing to know? He’s got you, your friends and others in mind too.

Jesus said, “Do not fear, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom” Luke 12:32 nkjv. fish4souls.org

Life forever and more abundantly > No life or real love

Abiding in the Vine > Striving in the flesh

When pride comes, then comes shame; but with the humble is wisdom.” Proverbs 11:2

You and I can choose to be humble or proud, believing or full of unbelief. We each can choose to have a life that is blessed or cursed, to have a shameful life or one that is marked by God's kind of wisdom.

Why be striving rather than abiding?

If you want to live a blessed, joyous and happy life, an abundant life, then you need to love God more than all else, to obey His voice, and just cling to your first love. Learn of Him, the living word. Live it. See how He will meet your every need. Wisely put the word into practice. Ask lots of good questions, listen up, and bear fruit. And right there in God’s will, watch what the Lord will do.

“A man without God is trusting in a spider’s web. Everything he counts on will collapse.” Job 8:14
Not even kinda strong, or really for him at all.
Your true and top priority purpose in this world is simply this, biblical worship -- it’s to bring glory to the Father through faith in Christ His Son.
  • “The Lord isn’t looking,” they say, “and besides, He doesn’t care.”
"Fools! Is God deaf and blind—He who makes ears and eyes? He punishes the nations—won’t He also punish you? He knows everything—doesn’t He also know what you are doing?" Psalm 94:7-10

So many things are messed up. What can we do? We can earnestly hit two knees and witness with the Gospel.

What can I do today, practically? It's gotten like never before? Pray.. like never before.

If we've ever needed You, Lord, it is now. We are desperate for Your loving hand, reaching out, reaching out. Through us. Let Your church reach up and then out. Use us, Lord. All You've sent here, poured out before, send and pour out now. Even more so.. like never before. Amen.

Jesus' last command should be our first concern! Jesus' last command should be our first concern! Jesus' last command should be our first concern! Jesus' last command should be our first concern! He said, "GO!" How can we say NO? He said, "GO!" How can we say NO? He said, "GO!" How can we say NO? He said, "GO!" How can we say NO? ~ k

"But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth" (Acts 1:8).

“The best remedy for a spiritually sick Christian is to put them on a soul-winning diet.” ~ Vance Havner

“One soul is worth a thousand worlds.” ~ R.G. Lee

“For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world and lose his-own soul?” Mark 8:36

“If they are wrong they need your prayers all the more; and if they are your enemies, then you are under orders to pray for them. That is one of the rules common to the whole house.”  ― C.S. Lewis

“I wanted to be somebody, but God allowed me to be a nobody—sharing with everybody about Somebody who can save anybody." ~ Sam Mings

“Do we pray, ‘Thy Kingdom come, but we never say, hear am I, Lord, send me?’” ~ Freddie Gage

Young people who want true joy and happiness, instead of the temporary intoxications of today’s sinful culture that.. slow or fast.. just destroy people, they should turn to Jesus Christ allowing Him to be Lord of all.

Why? Cuz He can forgive. He alone give you the greatest happiness inside. He can give you the greatest adventure and the greatest thrills you have ever known. What can we each do? You know...seek Him first. And we can daily make Him known. We can prayerfully, so respectfully.. from the heart go tactfully sharing your faith with people near home or in other cities and countries is a thrilling adventure! fish4souls.org

"When your will is God’s will, you will have your will." ~ C.H. Spurgeon
"Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful." Hebrews 10:23

Does a locked down (USA) nation with a wide open border.. even for the Covid-positive.. defy all logic? Uhh.. yeah!

So much gone weird these Covid days -- I mean in these Last Days.

Dear Lord, our leaders in DC have turned whackbrain.. please quickly improve em or remove em because they are hurting the citizens!

What did we citizens get really? Perhaps you 100% believe that our Land got a merely installed leader. A fake election, a fake inauguration, a fake press with fake press conferences, a fake VP who due to Joe's quickly failing mind and health..will soon to be your Communist US President. Well, you aren't alone in your beliefs and I want to challenge you.. us all.. to hit two knees.

So much talk these days, it makes ya think huh. If we can't even have fair US elections any more, then what can we do.?

So many talking heads yacking away -- yes, on a few networks like OANN and Newsmax are telling us there's a huge problem here, but no one is telling us what we can do about it, Kurt. Let's get practical.

Prayer shouldn't be our last resort. An authentic fifth Spiritual Awakening in the USA would help and each of us can earnestly pray for that to happen. The first four times God answered people's prayers for such. And at this point, that's what we can do. Go check from history how that 4th great awakening helped. Check how it affected the US crime rate etc. And while we're at it, let's ask for a biblical revival that brings in the fifth one. And why not ask for a 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th one if there's time enough.

We can intercede, we can prayerfully witness and be missionaries... or like those called to that full time. Yes, where the Spirit daily leads us to testify or witness.

We see that there's a big problem and that hardly anyone seems to be telling us what we can do about it.

You and I, we can't reform people, or save sinners, but Jesus can save. We can earnestly pray and win people who are open to hear.. to Christ.

Jesus entered the temple courts and drove out all who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the benches of those selling doves. “It is written,” he said to them, “‘My house will be called a house of prayer,’ but you are making it ‘a den of robbers." See Matthew 21:12-13, Mark 11:15-18

Jesus said, "I am the Good Shepherd. The Good Shepherd puts the sheep before himself, sacrifices himself if necessary. A hired man is not a real shepherd. The sheep mean nothing to him. He sees a wolf come and runs for it, leaving the sheep to be ravaged and scattered by the wolf. He’s only in it for the money. The sheep don’t matter to him. “I am the Good Shepherd. I know my own sheep and my own sheep know me. In the same way, the Father knows me and I know the Father. I put the sheep before myself, sacrificing myself if necessary. You need to know that I have other sheep in addition to those in this pen. I need to gather and bring them, too. They’ll also recognize my voice. Then it will be one flock, one Shepherd. This is why the Father loves me: because I freely lay down my life. And so I am free to take it up again. No one takes it from me. I lay it down of my own free will. I have the right to lay it down; I also have the right to take it up again. I received this authority personally from my Father." John 10:11-18 msg

Some are called non-profit ministers who serve people (minister actually means servant) and others are for profit "ministers" only, who call themselves anointed apostles and prophets. (Don't live gullible near false prophets / teachers).

Too many still want a seat at a table that Jesus would have flipped over.

Kicked on over. Tables of greed. He really didn't like seein' people ripped off, scammed... or fleeced instead of fed.. as still happens in so called places of worship today.

Where's your heart at? Hard, covetous, after some lame idol, soft, cold, lukewarm or red hot? On-fire for Christ? Watch over it, your heart.

"If you love me, feed my sheep." ~ Jesus

"Woe to the shepherds who destroy and scatter the sheep of My pasture!" says the Lord. Therefore thus says the Lord God of Israel against the shepherds who feed My people: "You have scattered My flock, driven them away, and not attended to them. Behold, I will attend to you for the evil of your doings," says the Lord. "But I will gather the remnant of My flock out of all countries where I have driven them, and bring them back to their folds; and they shall be fruitful and increase. "I will set up shepherds over them who will feed them; and they shall fear no more, nor be dismayed, nor shall they be lacking," says the LORD. "Behold, the days are coming," says the Lord, "That I will raise to David a Branch of righteousness; a King shall reign and prosper, And execute judgment and righteousness in the earth. Jeremiah 23:1-5

...the Lord GOD says: "Woe to the shepherds of Israel, who only feed themselves! Should not the shepherds feed their flock? You eat the fat, wear the wool, and butcher the fattened sheep, but you do not feed the flock. You eat the fat, wear the wool, and butcher the fattened sheep, but you do not feed the flock. You have not strengthened the weak, healed the sick, bound up the injured, brought back the strays, or searched for the lost. Instead, you have ruled them with violence and cruelty. They were scattered for lack of a shepherd, and when they were scattered they became food for all the wild beasts. Ezekiel 34:2-5

All who came before Me were thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them. John 10:8

I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep. John 10:11

Come as you are willing to be changed.. come back to Him.
As surely as I live, declares the Lord GOD, because My flock lacks a shepherd and has become prey and food for every wild beast, and because My shepherds did not search for My flock but fed themselves instead.. Ezekiel 34:8

This is what the Lord GOD says: 'Behold, I am against the shepherds, and I will demand from them My flock and remove them from tending the flock, so that they can no longer feed themselves. For I will deliver My flock from their mouths, and it will no longer be food for them. Ezekiel 34:10

I will feed them in good pasture, and the lofty mountains of Israel will be their grazing land. There they will lie down in a good grazing land; they will feed in rich pasture on the mountains of Israel. Ezekiel 34:14

I will tend My flock and make them lie down, declares the Lord God. Ezekiel 34:15 (See whole context)

1. What did Jesus mean when He said, “I am the good Shepherd?” Good, or Chief shepherd -- what does that even mean?
2. How is Jesus the “True Shepherd” in John 10:1-5? Did He ever saying anything half true, or false? Nope. In what ways is Jesus’ relationship with us like that of a shepherd with his sheep?
4. How many prophecies did the Chief Shepherd who is still fully good.. yes, I mean Jesus.. fulfill? What are all of the prophecies fulfilled by our good Shepherd, Jesus?
5. What does it mean that the thief comes only to steal, kill, and destroy in John 10:10? Is the devil the one who steals, kills, and destroys? Has he or his crowd done any of that in your life?
6. What does it mean that the Lord is my Shepherd (Psalm 23)? In what ways is our relationship with God like the tender relationship between a kind shepherd and his well-fed and nurtured sheep?
