Thomas Chisholm lived until February 29, 1960 and was an American songwriter who wrote several prominent Christian hymns. So where was Thomas born? It was in Franklin, Kentucky on July 29, 1866 in a log cabin. He became a teacher at age sixteen.
Did he hear and grasp the truth of the gospel? Yep, not merely religious was he. When was this? In 1893, at aged 27, Mr. Chisholm repented of his sins and believed in the Jesus Christ of the Bible. The most important decision of his life! Yes, Thomas was regenerated inside -- born of the Spirit. He had a first-hand experience with God in this conversion. It was during a revival in Franklin that was led by Dr. Henry Clay Morrison..where Thomas was led to the Lord. And later on?
Thomas served as a Methodist minister for only one year before resigning due to his poor health.
The circumstances of life basically canceled his career, but God still used and kept him. In spite of what happens to you here, choose to stay blessable and see God as He is. Kind, fair, good. Keep yourself within reach of this one God who longs to bless you. He can keep and help you!
Q. Have health issues, or tough circumstances, or evil people (from say the cancel culture) canceled your career before? I say trust God anyways -- He loves you and still has a good plan. Thomas, if he was still here, would say the same thing to you. No matter what life or others do to you.. God's purposes will be fulfilled -- cling to Christ who was put on a cruel cross by the cancel culture folk of His day.
Please prayerfully memorize Romans 8:28-29. Behind all the bitter, mean, cold-cruel circumstances of this life is God's providence of kindness for you.
In 1909 Chisholm began working as a life insurance agent which he really enjoyed. This was in Winona Lake and Vineland, New Jersey.
How did God use Chisholm? In one area he wrote over 1,200 sacred poems over his lifetime, which communicated his faith. These appeared in many Christian periodicals, and he served as an editor of the Pentecostal Herald in Louisville for a period.
In 1923 at age fifty-seven, Chisholm wrote the very popular song Great Is Thy Faithfulness which he submitted to William M. Runyan who was affiliated with the sound Moody Bible Institute and Runyan set the song to music. What a testimony!
So what are we learning today? To rest in, to revive in, to rally to, to rely upon the faithful Lord. It's a weird day to live in now, not seen days like this before.
Everything was getting canceled.. weddings, graduations, church services, funerals, businesses, schools, vacations, jobs. Even Mr. Potato head, the cat in the hat, green eggs and cheese -- yeah, Dr. Seuss, and other people's lives too. By mean and ignorant fools.
But our God is one of Love and accurate Justice. His timing is perfect with that. While we have time.. shine the light real bright, and share His gospel with loved ones. Be more known for what you are for, than what you are against. We are for Lord first, for His soon return, and for all people coming to Him..living rapture-ready! There are still so many excellent things and good causes to be involved with ..as Jesus leads us.
God doesn't want to cancel out or erase people, he loves and wants to bless all people..and will do that if they will turn and trust His Son. If they will by faith receive His Son and His free forgiveness. None of us can earn it.
Been musing on.. "The wicked are headed for death and the grave; all the nations who forget the True God will share a similar fate." Psalm 9:17 ("..shall be turned in hell.." in the nkjv)
Seems like our nation has so many cruel wicked people and like they've been winning lately.
"At any moment I may decide to pull up a people or a country by the roots and get rid of them. But if they repent of their wicked lives, I will think twice and start over with them." Jeremiah 18:7, 8
Let's judge ourselves early and repent, Americans.. so we don't need to be judged later on. You know it's starts in God's house and then goes out to all those who basically have been asking for it by their attitudes, motives, selfish ideas, words, evil deeds. The Lord promises this...
"If My people who are called by My name humble themselves, and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land." 2 Chronicles 7:14
