BIBLICALLY STIR UP THE SPIRITUAL FERVOR -- THE FIRE SO TO SPEAK. SURE, WHEN SO-CALLED CHURCH MINISTRY CONTINUES ON BUT THE LOVE HAS GROWN COLD, IT'S TIME TO GET CLOSE TO JESUS AGAIN. THERE'S NO TIME FOR LUKEWARM OR ICY (ANY) COLD.

When the temperature trajectory is towards warm and then cold, please recognize this is not what God wants.

Not for any church, not for an individual (and with an individual that doesn't mean they are lost).

Not every so called Christian whose spiritual fervor wanes and weakens is therefore unsaved. Scripture calls real believers to Be faithful and fruitful.. to examine themselves, to persevere in Christ, to repent, and abide in the vine.

I SAY STIR UP THE FIRE SO TO SPEAK.. AND STIR UP THE GIFT WITHIN, BELIEVER

When Ministry Continues, but Love Grows Cold

“Fan into flame the gift of God.”
2 Timothy 1:6

There is a sobering possibility in the Christian life: the calendar can remain full while the heart becomes empty.

Church services continue.

The music still plays.

The lights still come on.

The meetings remain scheduled.

The programs continue.

The workers keep serving.

The preaching continues.

The crowd may even grow.

And yet, somewhere beneath all the activity, the fire of devotion to Christ can begin to diminish.

A church can become remarkably busy while becoming spiritually cold.

That is one of the warnings of Christ's message to the church at Ephesus.

Jesus did not condemn Ephesus because they were lazy, doctrinally careless, or indifferent toward false teaching. Quite the opposite. He knew their works, labor, endurance, doctrinal discernment, and perseverance. They had endured hardship for His name and had not quit.

By outward appearances, Ephesus looked strong.

But Jesus saw beneath the surface.

They were doing much for Him while loving Him less.

That is a warning every church, every ministry, every pastor, every teacher, every worshiper, and every individual Christian should take seriously.

The danger of religious momentum

A ministry can develop momentum of its own.

Once enough programs are established, enough volunteers recruited, enough calendars filled, and enough traditions maintained, activity can continue almost automatically.

But spiritual life does not run on machinery.

A church does not remain spiritually alive merely because it remains organizationally active.

A congregation can have excellent buildings, polished services, gifted musicians, capable leaders, impressive programs, sound statements of faith, and crowded calendars while gradually losing the warmth of personal devotion to Jesus.

The issue is not that programs are inherently wrong.

The issue is what gives them life.

We can work for Christ without walking closely with Christ.

We can speak about prayer without actually praying.

We can teach the Bible without trembling before the God who gave it.

We can sing about surrender while secretly protecting our own will.

We can defend sound doctrine while allowing our love to grow cold.

We can become so occupied with the work of the Lord that we neglect the Lord of the work.

How is the Holy Spirit like a fire?

What are cloven tongues?

Is being slain in the Spirit biblical? I remember it happened with Ananias and his wife Sapphira?

What does it mean to be baptized with the Holy Spirit and fire?

What.. the Holy Spirit like a fire?

What does it mean that God is a consuming fire?

What does it mean to stir up the gift (2 Timothy 1:6)?

Why did God speak to Moses out of the burning bush?

There indeed are some ways, but what are some of those ways the Holy Spirit is like a fire?

What does it mean that God “will be a wall of fire” around Jerusalem?

What are some of the symbols of the Holy Spirit in the Bible?

What does it mean to quench the Holy Spirit (1 Thessalonians 5:19)?

What is the meaning of the strange fire in Leviticus 10:1?

Why was the fire in the altar to burn continuously (Leviticus 6:13)?

What is the baptism with fire?

What is the significance of Jesus' eyes being “like a flame of fire”?

Jesus has eyes that appear as fire. He said,

“Abide in me, and I in you.”
John 15:4

And then He made the matter unmistakably clear:

“Apart from me you can do nothing.”
John 15:5

The Christian life was never designed to be lived on yesterday's spiritual fire.

Ephesus: a church that had not quit, but had drifted

Christ's words to Ephesus are especially searching because He begins by acknowledging what they were doing right.

They worked.

They endured.

They resisted evil.

They tested false teachers.

They persevered under difficulty.

They refused to quit.

Yet Jesus said:

“But I have this against you, that you have abandoned the love you had at first.”
Revelation 2:4

Notice the tragedy.

Their hands were still busy, but their hearts had moved.

They had not necessarily abandoned Christian activity. They had abandoned their first love.

This is why spiritual maturity cannot be measured merely by how much we accomplish.

God examines the heart.

Paul made the same principle unmistakable when he taught that even extraordinary spiritual accomplishments are empty without love. See 1 Corinthians 13:1–3.

The question is therefore not merely:

“What are we doing?”

It is:

“Why are we doing it?”

And deeper still:

“Do we still love Jesus?”

Labor is not a substitute for love

Imagine a husband who faithfully pays the bills, maintains the house, goes to work every day, and fulfills every outward responsibility of marriage, yet gradually stops talking with his wife, listening to her, spending time with her, or showing affection toward her.

Technically, he may still be performing his responsibilities.

Relationally, something precious has disappeared.

The problem is not that he is doing too much.

The problem is that the relationship has been replaced by mere religious routine.

Something similar can happen spiritually.

We can maintain Christian routines while losing Christian affection.

We can attend church without adoring Christ.

We can read Scripture without allowing Scripture to search us.

We can serve others without loving them.

We can defend truth without displaying the character of the One who is Truth.

We can preach Christ while neglecting communion with Christ.

The danger is not always abandoning Christianity. Sometimes the danger is continuing Christianity without continuing intimacy with Christ.

Jesus did not tell Ephesus simply to work harder

This is one of the most beautiful things about Revelation 2.

Jesus did not respond by saying, “Your calendar is too empty. Add another program.”

He did not tell them to recruit more volunteers.

He did not tell them to create another ministry.

He gave them three commands:

Remember.

Repent.

Return.

“Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent, and do the works you did at first.”
Revelation 2:5

That is the pathway back.

* Remember

Look backward honestly.

Remember what it was like when Christ first captured your heart.

Remember when prayer was not merely an obligation but a privilege.

Remember when opening the Bible was not simply preparation for teaching but an opportunity to hear from God.

Remember when worship was not performance but wonder.

Remember when lost people were not statistics but souls.

Remember when sin grieved you because it grieved your Savior.

Remember when you were grateful simply to belong to Jesus.

* Repent

Remembering alone is insufficient.

Nostalgia cannot restore spiritual vitality.

Jesus says, repent.

Repentance means turning back toward God rather than merely feeling bad about having drifted.

The answer to spiritual coldness is not emotional manipulation.

It is not manufactured excitement.

It is not louder music.

It is not another conference.

It is not another program.

It is returning to Christ.

* Repeat

..the first works after you got saved. Jesus says to do the works you did at first.

Return to the simple things.

Pray.

Open the Word.

Worship.

Obey.

Confess sin.

Love people.

Share the gospel.

Serve sacrificially.

Walk with Christ.

Do the things that flow naturally from genuine love for Him.

Not to earn His love.

Because we have already been loved by Him.

“Stir up the gift” does not mean manufacture spiritual power

Paul's instruction to Timothy is remarkably appropriate:

“For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God.”
2 Timothy 1:6

Paul does not tell Timothy to manufacture something God never gave him.

He tells him to fan into flame what God had already entrusted to him.

The picture is powerful.

A fire can begin with a genuine flame and yet require attention if it is going to burn brightly.

Likewise, believers are called to exercise the gifts God has entrusted to them, walk in obedience, cultivate spiritual disciplines, and remain dependent upon the Holy Spirit.

Paul immediately connects this calling with power, love, and self-control.

So the answer is not emotional hype.

It is not human energy masquerading as spiritual power.

It is faithful dependence upon God.

Activity can never replace abiding

Jesus gives us the clearest picture.

A branch does not produce fruit by trying harder to be a branch.

It bears fruit by remaining connected to the vine.

Christ said:

“I am the vine; you are the branches.”
John 15:5

The order matters.

Abiding produces fruit.

Not the other way around.

We do not work ourselves into spiritual life.

We receive life from Christ, abide in Christ, and then serve Christ from that life.

That is why a Christian can become exhausted from doing good while simultaneously becoming spiritually malnourished.

The answer is not necessarily less service.

Sometimes the answer is deeper communion with Jesus from which service flows.

When prayer becomes mechanical

One of the earliest warning signs of spiritual cooling is often the quiet disappearance of earnest prayer.

Not necessarily the disappearance of prayer meetings.

Not necessarily the disappearance of public prayers.

But the disappearance of private communion with God.

The room may still be full on Wednesday night while the prayer closet sits empty.

And that should sober us.

Prayer is not merely another church activity.

Prayer is dependence.

Prayer says:

“Lord, I cannot do this without You.”

That is why Jesus' words in John 15 are so searching.

“Apart from me you can do nothing.”
John 15:5

The church does not need merely more activity.

The church needs deeper dependence upon Christ.

When preaching loses its urgency

Biblical preaching must never become merely religious information.

The preacher is handling eternal truth.

Sin is real.

Judgment is real.

Grace is real.

Hell is real.

Heaven is real.

Christ is risen.

The gospel is true.

Eternity is approaching.

Therefore the Word of God should be handled with reverence, clarity, conviction, compassion, and urgency.

But there is another danger.

A preacher can preach correct doctrine while his own heart becomes distant from the God he proclaims.

The answer is not abandoning sound doctrine for emotionalism.

We need both truth and love.

Truth without love can become cold orthodoxy.

Love without truth can become sentimental compromise.

Biblical Christianity refuses both errors.

When souls stop mattering

Perhaps the most disturbing symptom of spiritual cooling is when lost people cease to burden us.

When the church becomes more concerned about maintaining its schedule than reaching its community, something has gone wrong.

When we become more excited about attendance numbers than eternal destinies, something has gone wrong.

When we can discuss church preferences for hours but cannot pray earnestly for someone who does not know Christ, something has gone wrong.

When we are passionate about winning arguments but indifferent toward winning people to Jesus, something has gone wrong.

The gospel was never given merely to make Christians more comfortable.

Jesus came “to seek and to save the lost” (Luke 19:10).

Paul could say that he endured hardship for the sake of others so that they might obtain the salvation found in Christ (2 Timothy 2:10).

The church should therefore carry both truth in its mouth and compassion in its heart.

The warning of Matthew 24:12

Jesus also gave a solemn warning concerning the end of the age:

“And because lawlessness will be increased, the love of many will grow cold.”
Matthew 24:12

The context matters.

Jesus was speaking about false teachers, persecution, deception, increasing lawlessness, and the events surrounding the end of the age. He immediately follows this warning by speaking of endurance.

So we should not use this verse carelessly.

But we should hear its warning clearly:

A lawless culture can create a spiritually corrosive environment in which love grows cold.

When sin becomes normalized, holiness can become strange.

When truth becomes negotiable, conviction can weaken.

When self becomes the center, sacrificial love becomes increasingly difficult.

Paul describes a similar spiritual climate in 2 Timothy 3:1–5, where people become lovers of self and lovers of money while maintaining an outward appearance of godliness.

That is a frightening possibility:

religion on the outside, self-love on the inside.

The church does not need a new fire. It needs to tend the fire God has given.

There is something wonderfully hopeful about all of this.

Jesus did not merely expose Ephesus.

He called Ephesus back.

His rebuke contained an invitation.

Remember.

Repent.

Return.

That means spiritual decline does not have to become spiritual destiny.

A cold heart can turn again.

A distracted Christian can return.

A weary servant can seek Christ afresh.

A church can repent.

A ministry can recover its purpose.

A congregation can rediscover the wonder of the gospel.

The answer is not to manufacture yesterday's emotions.

It is to return to today's Christ.

Jesus has not changed.

His gospel has not changed.

His holiness has not changed.

His mercy has not changed.

His Word has not changed.

His invitation remains:

Come back to Me.

A sobering question for every church

If Jesus Himself walked among our churches today, what would He commend?

What would He confront?

Would He find doctrinal faithfulness?

Would He find perseverance?

Would He find sacrificial service?

Would He find biblical preaching?

Would He find prayer?

Would He find holiness?

Would He find love?

Would He find compassion for the lost?

And perhaps the most penetrating question:

Would Jesus say that we are doing many things for Him while loving Him less than we once did?

That question cannot be answered by the attendance sheet.

It cannot be answered by the size of the budget.

It cannot be answered by the number of programs.

It cannot be answered by the beauty of the worship service.

Only the heart knows.

And ultimately, Christ knows.

Barna's recent research illustrates an interesting tension: Bible engagement in America has recently increased, with weekly Bible reading reported at 42% among U.S. adults in its 2025 research, yet Barna also identified a gap between increased Bible reading and strong conviction concerning Scripture's authority.

That is worth considering.

Opening the Bible is good.
Believing the Bible is essential.
Obeying the Bible is evidence of genuine discipleship.

The goal is not merely more Bible activity.

The goal is a life transformed by the Word of God and centered upon Christ.

The fire must reach the heart before it reaches the world

A church cannot consistently call the world to repentance while refusing to examine itself.

We cannot preach revival while tolerating spiritual indifference in our own hearts.

We cannot ask God to save our neighbors while remaining unconcerned about their souls.

We cannot ask God to revive His church while resisting His work of repentance within us.

Revival begins with God, but Scripture repeatedly calls God's people to humble themselves, seek Him, turn from sin, pray, and obey.

So perhaps the prayer should begin very simply:

“Lord, begin with me.”

Stir up what has grown dormant.

Rekindle what has grown faint.

Restore what has been neglected.

Correct what has become crooked.

Cleanse what has become contaminated.

And above everything else:

Restore my love for Jesus.

Because the greatest tragedy is not that a church becomes less busy.

The greatest tragedy is that we become busy enough to forget why we are serving in the first place.

The answer is not simply:

“Do more.”

It is:

“Come nearer.”

Come back to the Word.

Come back to prayer.

Come back to worship.

Come back to obedience.

Come back to holiness.

Come back to the gospel.

Come back to compassion.

Come back to Christ.

Remember.

Repent.

Return.

Remain.

And fan the flame.

For when Christ is treasured, ministry has its proper motive.

When Christ is loved, obedience becomes worship.

When Christ is central, service becomes joyful sacrifice.

When Christ is magnified, the church becomes a light rather than merely an organization.

And when the people of God abide deeply in Christ, they are equipped to carry His gospel faithfully into a dark and needy world.

George Barna reported in 2025 that weekly Bible reading among U.S. adults had risen to 42%, while also noting a gap between increased Bible engagement and conviction about biblical authority.

“He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.”
Revelation 2:7

May we never be satisfied with a church that is merely busy.

May we seek to be a people who are alive in Christ, faithful to His Word, fervent in prayer, holy in conduct, compassionate toward the lost, and burning with genuine love for Jesus.

That is the fire worth tending. Do you know the Lord, or merely know of the Lord? Today, even now, you can know Him well and be used of Him.

But why did God give people a free will? Seems like we've gotten into a bit of trouble with that. Some have bailed out for a time, and taken a stride from their Master's side.

Choose to love and wisely apply the Word. How much gets into your daily life -- into your shoe leather, Kurt?

Written in my Bible as a reminder -- This Book will keep you from sin and sin will keep you from this Book. Live in the word 24/7/365!

Let no sin keep you from God or his Book. Run to him, admit it and quit it when you blow it. When you stumble or fall and the accuser is there to say you aren't worthy to go back to God, you are a hypocrite. That's when you need to run to him all the faster. He knows it all anyways, and will forgive you. With your free will, choose Him over any pet sin that's even fun for a short season. Some sin can be. Get home before dark..and darker..and darkest. Come back to Jesus, and to his healthy church fellowship he has for you to enjoy.

“If we judge our lives by what we know or by what we say, we can easily deceive ourselves into thinking that we are something we are not; it is wiser to evaluate ourselves by the amount of truth we actually live. This is very humbling.” — Paul Washer

You are my personal revival, Lord. On You I will wait to hear -- I love your Voice. The word still renews my strength.

What of the word gets from the head down into your heart daily.. what of it do you wisely apply, Kurt?

“God created things which had free will. That means creatures which can go wrong or right. Some people think they can imagine a creature which was free but had no possibility of going wrong, but I can't. If a thing is free to be good it's also free to be bad. And free will is what has made evil possible. Why, then, did God give them free will? Because free will, though it makes evil possible, is also the only thing that makes possible any love or goodness or joy worth having. A world of automata of creatures that worked like machines would hardly be worth creating. The happiness which God designs for His higher creatures is the happiness of being freely, voluntarily united to Him and to each other in an ecstasy of love and delight compared with which the most rapturous love between a man and a woman on this earth is mere milk and water. And for that they've got to be free. Of course God knew what would happen if they used their freedom the wrong way: apparently, He thought it worth the risk... If God thinks this state of war in the universe a price worth paying for free will that is, for making a real world in which creatures can do real good or harm and something of real importance can happen, instead of a toy world which only moves when He pulls the strings then we may take it it is worth paying.” ― C.S. Lewis

So many beautiful things in God's nature and creation out there! Jesus is the most beautiful person there is. I love Him more.

Why ever primarily go away after something or someone that is far lesser than the Lord? God is the best there is -- live 100% for Him. Let's never bail out. You and I don't need any epic backslide, or any backsliding away from Him at all.

“If you truly love nature, you will find beauty everywhere.” — Vincent van Gogh

“If you truly see how the Lord is and choose to love Him (the most beautiful Person in the entire universe), then you’ll find His strong grace to glorify Him everywhere He leads you.” — Me, yours truly

Who wouldn’t want to first hand experience His intervention and close loyal friendship? Why ever go away -- there's never a good reason to take a stride from your Master's side. "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us.."

What do ya know of apostasy and how can ya recognize it? Well, that term apostasy comes from the Greek word apostasia. It means “a defiance of an established system or authority; a rebellion; an abandonment or a breach of real faith.”

1. What is apostasy and how can I recognize it?

2. If our salvation is eternally secure, why does the Bible warn so strongly against apostasy?

3. Will there be a great apostasy, a falling away during the end times?

4. What is the mystery of iniquity..for real?

5. What is Restorationism?

6. What is Novatianism?

7. What is the great deception in the Bible?

8. Does Hebrews 10:26 mean that a believer can lose salvation?

9. What's the Book of Jude all about.

10. Why do Mormons refer to themselves as Latter Day Saints?

11. What is the dispensation of Grace?

12. What is false doctrine?

13. What does it mean to backslide?

14. What are the consequences of nations turning away from God?

15. Can salvation be lost?

16. Questions about False Doctrine.

17. What does the Bible say about fornication?

Have ya been distracted away, or wandered some? Get back.. close.

Have ya drifted?  Drift no more.

“Don’t fret and worry—it only leads to harm. For the wicked shall be destroyed, but those who trust the Lord shall be given every blessing.” Psalm 37:8-9

Take some time today to just wait upon the Lord to hear, and build up your intimate relationship with Him. Yeah, see if He would speak to your heart as you prayerfully open His Book again.

Without growing weary (like in that well doing), you have persevered thus far and endured many things for the sake of His Name. Let your heart be filled with hope again, with grace, with truth, with JOY and with songs. Keep your focus on you first love, Jesus (Revelation 2:4).

Toss not what’s holy or those pearls of yours so to speak down before those spiritual swine and dogs -- cuz they as some sheep even do.. like to bite. Listen, some people enjoy living closed without any assurance. They’re not interested in even looking at what’s so or at any evidence (you know, like our low and high US courts. Matt. 7:6).

No (spiritual) compromise! No time for it! Avoid the lying media, there’s so much of it in many locations (BTW CNN is now being removed from our International Airports YAY!).

Lean not on your own understanding when you see so much go sideways, south or whacko. Trust in the Lord and praise Him, beloved, that He will indeed cause all things to work together for good to those who love God.

God can bless again -- nothing is impossible with Him. Wasn't peace in the Middle East also considered impossible. (2 Chron 7:14)  If you’ve taken a stride from your first love’s side, ditch all the disappointment, discouragement and shame and begin to doubt your doubts -- do like that Beatles song and get back! Live stark (strong). Get home before dark.

“Jojo was a man who thought he was a loner
But he knew it couldn't last
Jojo left his home in Tucson, Arizona
For some California grass

Get back, get back
Get back to where you once belonged
Get back, get back
Get back to where you once belonged
Get back Jojo

Go home

Get back, get back
Back to where you once belonged
Get back, get back
Back to where you once belonged
Get back Jo!“

Get up, stand, walk again -- get back! And bring a friend back. God is still waiting with open arms and says, “If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” 2 Chron. 7:14

Repent and repeat your first works. You were born to walk empowered, and in victory! In God's Spirit. You know this Spirit -- I say His first name is Holy.

Live not as a wandering or stumbling generality, but as a meaningful specific in the will of God for you. Choose to live intentionally and well connected. Be well, too many are spiritually sick today. God has a good plan and no matter what small-minded people do, they can't thwart it.

Have ya felt scared, empty, lonely or afraid to die at times? Have ya drifted spiritually? Have you been distracted away, or wandered some?  Get back.. tight. Yes, closer than ever before.

Impeach.. With No Good Reason, C e n s o r, And D e s t r o y ..It's What Those of This World Do To People.

Those of this corrupt world system want and seek to make you into a digital-non-person, believer.

Listen, it's about what's true, half true, and not true at all. What will ya do about their comprehensive scheme to marginalize conservatives, to silence all our voices, and to destroy our lives? Truth itself hangs in the ballance today -- fiction is masquerading. We need a good b a t t l e plan of our own huh. Hearin’ Dinesh D’Souza’s good podcast.

What steps can you take in the USA or where you live? My advice for ya? First, get back, get back to where you once belonged.

Alcohol Use And Alcoholism -- Man, Please Walk Free. Want The Best For You And Your Loved Ones. Full Liberty Is A Choice, And There's A Way For You Today.

Today, you know how the abuse of drink so often goes hand in hand with drug abuse (prescription and nonprescription). And so many have sadly died during this last decade from such addiction.

Wasn’t always like that with both. Back in the day it seems like alcohol abusers were alcohol abusers and drug abusers were drug abusers but now so many have coalesced together into chemical-addicts (Nothing derogatory or offensive meant by any term used, but you know lots of other terms we're used. I'm not sure why it was that way).

Many users are using any or everything to gain comfort and escape the troubles, pains, and heartaches of life.

man and woman drinking tin cans

Remember watching Cops? I still watch and learn even though the show is no longer vogue. Most of the people that were stopped by Cops had no respect for delegated authority (namely, they hated and totally distrusted Cops). Most of those stopped by the Police had a problem with drinking or drugs (..or with say the stealing, buzzed violence, or illicit sex just to support their destructive habit).

Very sad to see. I've been pulled over too. Actually I was guilty and parked on the cliff overlooking the Dana Point harbor in the '70s. Had to go to some classes too.

Drinking or drug problems and trying to hide it all -- you always saw this on Cops. How very costly it can get! It was like that at the start of the show in '89 and all through the 30 year run until they discontinued Cops (Today, there's no police shows aired -- you know how liberal mayors, lame politicians, and city leaders want to defund police. That's another topic, don't get me started on that).

“The first thing in the human personality that dissolves in alcohol is dignity.” ~ Author Unknown

“When the wine goes in, strange things come out.” ~ Johann Christoph Friedrich von Schiller

“First you take a drink, then the drink takes a drink, then the drink takes you.”  ~ Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald

"When the wine is in, the wit is out." ~ Anon.

“Drunkenness is nothing but voluntary madness.” ~Seneca

“If drinking is interfering with your work, you're probably a heavy drinker. If work is interfering with your drinking, you're probably an alcoholic.” ~ Anon.

I personally don't look down on those who choose to drink. It's not for me to judge or try to give them my own personal convictions -- some really don't have a problem. God gave me personal convictions for me alone. I never liked the taste (some say they acquired a taste they need to un-acquire).

I've personally found that there is nothing good that these habits, pastime activities will give to people, but being filled with the Comforter (the Holy Spirit) that's a different story. This solace will give what's good and restorative.. along with the truth of the word.

Always felt like, I can always find (non-alcoholic) drinks that taste far better, and are healthy too. What's the need for other?

Something to consider, that I have mused on: Even though all those super-expensive booze commercials look cool and happy, you can never ever sin with drink.. or become a drunk or a drug addict.. if you never pick it up, buy it, drink it, or use. It's that first drag on that joint or other smoke. It's that first can or glass. I say, be a tea-toddler or with coffee perhaps. Far better for you.

You know habitual use of alcohol often results in addiction. Duh, it can get ahold of anyone! The drinker's inadequacies, faults, and problems become intensified, and often personality changes result.

Though feeling more confident, brave, acceptable and feeling less fearful of rejection and less awkward socially.. when under the influence of alcohol, he or she is often immature, insecure, and feeling guilty with depression.

People want comfort from the pains of life on this sin-cursed planet. They switch from one idol to another, seeking to fill up that empty void inside their hearts that only Jesus can fill and satisfy spiritually.

The alcoholic does not feel good about himself or herself. They somehow can't face the addiction and the subsequent problems it creates for them.. so he or she in an ongoing way often denies their problem. They are often dishonest in covering it up over and over again. Yes, they so often become very deceitful in blaming it all on family members, on buddies or so called friends (fair-weather-friends), on their parents, on coworkers, on work supervisors (managers, bosses etc), or even on the bad breaks of life. And who hasn’t experienced some bad breaks in this life?

Sadly, some people experience more or far more “bad breaks of life.” Even bad breaks they didn’t bring on themselves via personal bad decisions. Mean people act mean -- sinners sin cuz they are sinners. They’re not sinners per se because they sin (sure, they are a criminal once they’ve committed a crime according to police), but they were born in sin. We all were says God in the Bible.. which is completely true.

We all need forgiveness, regeneration, and a new nature from God inside (John 3:3) and sanctification.

Companies are not loyal to the workers today. Many politicians, social workers, physiologists and so called pastors aren’t either, but Christ is loyal. He’ll never ditch, bail out, leave you.. nor forsake you, believer.

This deviousness and denial of abuse leads to a masquerade in life that at times can assume almost a comic-level. I never look down on, or talk down to those struggling -- it’s actually very tragic, the overtones and all. Never want to, cuz Jesus never did. You have great value, your life matters.

Alcoholics desperately need help at the root of the problem. Alcoholics Anonymous maintains that until alcoholic hits rock bottom, admitting that their life is out of control, there is little hope of any change at all.

Admitting that there is a problem is the first step on the road to recovery. Isn’t it like that for all types of sin and addiction? Many people, even religious leaders say “I’m not a sinner or bad person.” I do good works, am a good person and can make it on my own. Some foolishly blame their bad behavior on their circumstances or environment.

Listen, there is hope for the alcoholic in the word of God. Christ loves you. God loves us all so much, he has a good plan and is able to completely deliver people from this as well as any other addiction. (Personally, I love to hangout with, talk with, and hear my friends at AA (they call me a "Normie" though I too used to drink like a goldfish). My parents and grandparents have been apart and serving at AA since the founders started it in California. I FEEL A TON OF RESPECT FOR ALL OF THEM. They knew many of those key people at the start and I got to hear and benefit. Yes, over the decades, I've been blessed to hear so many wise principles and prayers from the heart.

Hey, come to.. or come back to Christ today. Nothing is more imperative than that (no life decision is)! Some have said a prayer in a church etc.. and after a time relapsed or backslide away. God understands -- he still loves you and has a good plan. Ain't done with ya!

Hey, need a new beginning? Important: Please humbly choose Jesus Christ as your “Higher Power” to walk with, and stay free cuz he is the Son of God -- the Highest Power of all. The God of the Bible is the only one -- the only real God. If the Son sets you free, you're free indeed.)

I say and know I'm right on this.. You were created to know God in a personal way—to have a meaningful relationship with the one God of the Bible, through His Son, Jesus Christ.

"The Bible teaches that there is deliverance from the things that come upon the world.. not by chemicals, but by Christ, bringing the mind and heart into harmony with God through submission to His will (that totally agrees with His written word) and accepting His forgiveness. ..In Christ alone there is deliverance from man's tortured thoughts and freedom from the sordid habits which are destroying so many people. Why does the Bible so clearly denounce drunkenness? Because it is an enemy of human life. Anything that is against a person’s welfare, God is against.” ~ Billy Graham

Want to firsthand know God's positive alternative for the world's version, the world's short lived chemical and other types of comfort:

When you get the time, please prayerfully re-read these verses in their own context).

“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. Woe to him who gives drink to his neighbors, pouring it from the wineskin until they are drunk, in order to gaze at their nakedness! You will be filled with shame instead of glory.” (Habakkuk 2:14-16)

The Bible says "All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." So true, I regularly did.

I used to drink like a goldfish mainly at highschool beach parties in the Dana Point area of California. That's where I grew up surfing, drinking and while drinking a lot my surfer peers turned me on to some weed. And I started with that. I wanted some comfort, an escape -- life sober seemed tough. I tried to clean my life up on my own and couldn't do it. I guess I was hooked.

Things were getting worse. Sure, police were stopping me on the road. I didn't like that I had become and was becoming. Being raised in a traditional dead religious church wasn't helping me at all. God's not religious, never has been.

A few surfer friends witnessed to me on the beach.. told me of Christ's love, power to save and ability to deliver people in bondage like me. I got invited to a Bible study up in the Newport Beach area and there chose to repent and believe in Jesus. I gave my life over to him and this Fisherman so to speak, caught me, accepted me, loved me, and he cleaned this fish up if ya will. He still is sanctifying me. Got a lot to learn, but am happier and healthier. Washed clean by him, not by me. Best decision of my life! Finding a healthy local Christian church was great too, cuz I found friends I could relate to and have fellowship with.

We can't help but become like those we spend a lot of time with. Bad company corrupts good morals, but godly friends encourage a lot.. to in obedience to the word of God.

It's like the devil and his buds will bait one more serious trap with a pleasurable yet destructive habit that you or I already enjoy.
But God is so perfect and holy, and our sins literally separate us from connection with Him ...even forever if we let that happen. The Bible says "The wages of sin is death."
But the Good News of real love (the Gospel) for you is from about 2,000 years ago. Remember how Jesus didn't feel like it, but went up on a lonely Cross at Calvary for you, for me. He let sinners kill him there in our place and then on the third day rose again from the dead. And now we each can respond to the Gospel and be born again. Forgiven, no charge.
