Talk about it and let's go do it! What? The best kind of fishing!

Think about it, the main thing is to keep the main things the main things.

Main things, and our daily choices matter. All can personally know Christ well and make Him well known! Today is good.

Sure, you and I could so easily become distracted otherwise -- any of us believers could become overly-busy with what’s minor, secondary, or periphery (the lesser things really). Be wise--prioritize. Why be negligent?

Jesus Calls Every Christian To Become A Fisher Of Men (People).

After personal worship (that is acceptable), that’s a main thing. (Need more.. five Essentials).

HERE’S A PICTURE OF MANY MODERN DAY CHURCHES AND BELIEVERS.

Now it came to pass that a group existed who called themselves fishermen. And lo, there were many fish in the waters all around. In fact, the whole area was surrounded by streams, seas, and lakes filled with fish. And the fish were hungry too!

Week after week, month after month, and year after year, these who called themselves fisherman, gathered in important meetings and talked about their call to fish, the abundance of fish, and how they might go about fishing. Year after year they carefully defined what fishing means, defended fishing as an occupation, and declared that: “Fishing is always to be a primary task of fishermen!”

Continually they searched for new and better methods of fishing and for new and better definitions. Further they said, "The fishing industry exists by fishing as fire exists by oxygen, fuel, and combustion or burning."

They loved slogans such as "Born to fish," "Fishing is the task of every fisherman," "Fish ’till you drop," "Every fisherman is a true fisher," and "A fisherman department for every fisherman’s club."

Some zealous people really dug in deep to learn more information -- sure cuz study can be good if it doesn't self-terminate there! They were aiming to gain some expertise in all the finer points of effectual-fishin'.

They sponsored special meetings called "Fishermen’s Campaigns" and "The Month For Fishermen To Fish!" They sponsored expensive nationwide and worldwide congresses to discuss all the points of fishing-specificity and to promote simple fishing too. It was a great time to hear all the complex or far from complex plans. What's needed is excellent methods of fishing minus wrong compromise. It was the place to preview all the latest fishing equipment, books, fish calls and to see whether any new bait was discovered

These fishermen built large, beautiful buildings called "Fishing Headquarters." The plea was that everyone should be a fisherman and every fisherman should fish. One thing they didn’t do, however, they didn’t fish.

In addition to meeting regularly, they organized a board to send out fishermen to other places where there were many fish. All the fishermen seemed to agree that what is needed is a humble board which could challenge fishermen to be faithful in fishing. The board was formed by those who had the great vision, or degrees, and courage to speak about fishing.. to define fishing, and to promote the idea of fishing in faraway streams and lakes where many other fish of different colors lived.

Also the board hired grateful staff members and appointed committees and held meetings to define fishing, to defend fishing, and to decide what new streams should be thought about. But the staff and committee members were too busy to fish.

Large elaborate and expensive training centers were built whose original and primary purpose was to teach fishermen how to fish. And these wonderful buildings and their maintenance operations took on the greatest of importance as their leaders wisely prioritized. One craftsman made a beautiful silver plaque for the entry of one such center, with their engraved watchword, "We duplicate what we are! Our constituents will fish like we as leaders fish, more than if we just tell them to go fishing!"

Over the years, specialized courses were offered on the various needs and dependencies of fish, the nature of fish, the politically correct fisher, fish self esteem, fish as victims, healing the fish we plan to catch, where to find fish, the psychological reactions and phobias of 22nd century fishermen, also how to sensitively approach and feed fish.

Many of those who eloquently taught fishing had earned doctorates in fishology. But the teachers did not fish. They only taught skillful fishing. Some of them, thought of as having fishing expertise, felt that actual fishing with pole or net, was to be left for the few groups of fishing clubs that were so gifted. But year after year, after tedious training, many were graduated and were given fishing licenses. They were sent to do full-time fishing, some to distant waters, which were filled with fish.

Some financed and actually spent much on research, on travel to go learn the history of fishing and to see faraway places where the founding fathers did great fishing in the centuries past. They lauded the faithful fishermen of years before who stayed with the club and handed down the idea of fishing.

Further, the fishermen built large printing houses to publish fishing guides. Presses were kept busy day and night to produce materials solely devoted to fishing methods, equipment, and programs to arrange and to encourage meetings to talk about fishing. A speaker's bureau was also provided to schedule speakers on the subject of fishing.

Many who felt the call to be fishermen responded. They were commissioned and sent to fish, however, like the fishermen back home they never fished. Just like the fishermen back home, they engaged in all kinds of other occupations. Some were convinced that they were allergic to fish. So, they made all kinds of equipment to travel here and there to look at fish hatcheries. Some also said that they wanted to be part of the fishing party, but they felt called to furnish fishing resources and premiums.

Others felt that their job was to relate to the fish in a cool and friendly way so the fish would know the difference between good and hypocritical fishermen. Others felt that simply letting the fish know they were nice, land-loving neighbors and how warm and kind they were, was enough to make these fish eventually get themselves caught.

After a stirring meeting on "The Necessity for Fishing," one young fellow stood up, left the meeting and went fishing.

The next day he reported he had caught two outstanding fish. He was honored for his excellent catch and was scheduled to appear on all the prime time fishing-talk shows and drive-time radio shows. His face appeared on the cover of many fishing magazines and book contracts were signed. They scheduled him to visit all the big meetings, as much as possible, to tell how he did it. Crowds always wanted his touch, his autograph, his podcasts …or his son to come talk to them. Countless sought to get closer in different ways. And his own speaking became "in demand" internationally, so he quit his fishing in order to have the time to tell about the experience to the other fishermen. He was also placed on the General Board as a person having considerable experience and there was even talk of eventually making him the president of a reputable fishing college.

Now it's true that many of the fishermen sacrificed and put up with all kinds of difficulties. Some lived near the water and bore the smell of dead fish every day. They received the ridicule of some who made fun of their fishermen's clubs and the fact that they claimed to be fishermen yet never fished. They wondered about those who felt it was of little use to attend the weekly meetings to talk about fishing. After all, were they not following the Master who said, "Follow me, and I will make you fishers..?"

Imagine how hurt some felt when one day a person suggested that those who don't catch fish were really not fishermen, no matter how much they claimed to be. Yet it did sound correct. Is a person a fisherman if year after year he never catches a fish? Is one following if he isn't fishing?

"One can love fish but never catch any himself until he goes fishing." ~ Vance Havner

Is there such a thing as Christian discipleship that is non-evangelistic? Uhh, no. According to Jesus Himself, a plain result of following Him is acceptable worship and that we each choose and become fishers of men and of women.

It's not enough just to follow our Lord's life-principles, teachings, or His good example, we must follow Him where He's presently going! The Scriptures make His purpose clear.

"For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which is lost" (Luke 19:10).

"The saddest road to hell is the one that runs under the pulpit, past the Bible, and through the middle of warnings and invitations." ~ J.C. Ryle

"Jesus Christ is the same yesterday today and forever" (Hebrews 13:8).

Doing your part to pray and believe and to biblically witness.. being involved in saving souls is still the master passion of Jesus (the only one who can forgive and save a soul) and He wants to use you in this ministry!

The Main.. of all main things is: Come to Christ the Ultimate Fisher of people (the kind Savior who can forgive any of us). Choose to come into a right relationship with Him as Lord. Yes, into fellowship. Come just as you are (via true repentance and faith), willing to cooperate with the Holy Spirit and Word of God. That’s regeneration, it’s free — no earning it!

Next comes ministry and sanctification for each of us. So, go tell someone all that He’s done for you. Tactfully share His gospel message for the purpose of winning lost people to Him.

“The sinner cannot convert the sinner. Fish will not be fishers.” ~ Charles Spurgeon

"There is no repentance in the grave: There is no conversion after the last breath is drawn. Now is the time to believe in Christ, and to lay hold of eternal life." ~ J.C. Ryle

"For the Scripture says, 'Everyone who believes in him (Jesus Christ) will not be put to shame.' For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, bestowing his riches on all who call on him. For 'everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.'Romans 10:11-13 esv

Merry Christmas to you!

Am thinkin' 'bout the first Christmas.

No where in the Bible does the Bible refer to Joseph as Jesus' father. (Real basic: God the Father was/is Jesus' Father.)

I like how Mary (then a virgin -- a very moral person) told the truth! In the magnificot she said she needed a Savior (which would obviously make her a sinner too).

She could do nothing to protect her own reputation, but she trusted in her Father God. Her jeered and smeared Son (God the Son, sinless #Jesus) did that too! Who do you put your trust in? In you? Put it in Christ.

Not only was there no vacancy for Jesus at the Inn, there seemed to be no room for Him anywhere here. Why? Where He went, He wisely uncovers what's wrong. He exposes who we are..with the greed, the lust, the pride, the selfishness and other sins. If you live 100% for Jesus will there be room for you?

Will there be room for you in the business world, in the religious world? If they hated Him, they will you too. (The USA is still a religious nation, with a broad range mix-mash of faiths and superstitions. So often sadly, truth mixed with error).

You know how in public places they let you to pray to anything or to anyone other than to the Father in the name of Jesus. If you do pray in Christ's name, those of this world will wedge you out. No place here.

Do you like to hear the truth about Christmas?

"In those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that the whole world should be enrolled. This was the first enrollment, when Quirinius was governor of Syria. So all went to be enrolled, each to his own town.

And Joseph too went up from Galilee from the town of Nazareth to Judea, to the city of David that is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David, to be enrolled with Mary, his betrothed, who was with child.

While they were there, the time came for her to have her child, and she gave birth to her firstborn son. She wrapped him in swaddling clothes and laid him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.

Now there were shepherds in that region living in the fields and keeping the night watch over their flock. The angel of the Lord appeared to them and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were struck with great fear.

The angel said to them,
“Do not be afraid;
for behold, I proclaim to you good news of great joy
that will be for all the people.
For today in the city of David
a savior has been born for you who is Christ and Lord.
And this will be a sign for you:
you will find an infant wrapped in swaddling clothes
and lying in a manger.”
And suddenly there was a multitude of the heavenly host with the angel,
praising God and saying:
“Glory to God in the highest
and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.” Luke 2:1-14

6 things that won't change for anyone.

Six vital certainties:

1. Life is real short (in the light of eternity) and uncertain.
2. Death is sure -- It is appointed unto man once to die... (Not multiple times like with the false belief in reincarnation. Of course some believers will enjoy the Rapture).
3. Judgment is inevitable, and I ain't the judge.. except for myself up until the time that I meet Him face to face.. at the judgment seat of Christ.
4. Sin is exceeding sinful (yours and mine put Christ up on that tree). Wrong is still wrong and right is still all the way right, and no wrong is ever right, and no trying to do right in the wrong way is ever right either.
5. Hell is a dreadful reality -- much too long, never ending, with different levels of punishment there as well. Choices matter, each and every one of them. Pray, obey, worship acceptably and glorify the Lord.
6. Christ LOVES YOU, and He alone can save you (see John 3). You can't do that for yourself and I can't either. But once you are saved (forgiven), Jesus can use you to tactfully share the gospel and lead somebody else to the Lord.  www.knowGod.org

What are three main barriers to sharing the Gospel with people?

Here ya go...

1. Fear (“What if I’m rejected by them?”)

2.  Ignorance (“I don’t know how to share the Gospel.”)

3. Apathy (“It’s not my responsibility.”)

All of these barriers can be overcome through the power of the Spirit (Sure, let the Lord witness through you. See Acts 1:8).

Any dead fish can flow with the others downstream. Live the life, and don't go with them where they are headed.

Any unproductive bulb hangin' out in the darkness of this world with the others can choose. Keep tellin' the truth no matter what. Be and stay connected instead.

Opt to simply live righteously, pure, bright, honest, wise, humble and real close to Jesus Christ (on-fire spiritually). It's a close relationship thang. Live fully for Him, all in, instead of spiritually-lukewarm, religiously (dead inside), or icy cold like those of this cold world like to do. God will empower and help you shine His light brightly. Prayerfully read the whole context (Bible). Be like that star over Bethlehem that pointed the way to Jesus--that made the path to Him seen. Think about Mary (a virgin at that time--a flawed but very moral person. I sure ain't going to pray to her..), she told the truth! Remember in the magnificat she said she needed a Savior (which would have made her a sinner as she was). She walked by faith and could do nothing to protect her own reputation (Joseph had to be informed by an angel before he put her away..so be at peace and marry her), but she trusted the Father. Then Joseph trusted (he was not the father of Christ). Later her jeered and smeared Son (of God, of Light and Life, sinless Jesus) did that too -- He told the truth and flawlessly lived it too! Know Him well. Happy Christmas to you

“For even the Son of Man CAME not to be served but to Serve others and to Give his life as a ransom for many.” Mark 10:45 #emph.mine

Wherever you are or go in this world.. led by the Lord.. You can live a godly life. For God's glory, Mary did, Joseph did. Do your best, commit the rest! Submit through the rest (under His direct and delegated authority). a

Tactfully share your story, and some might believe you. Be bold in Jesus Christ, instead of wimpy and timid. Let's invade instead of evade, Let's permeate instead of isolate. Let's storm the gates by God's power pointing to His Son Jesus.. not to self! We are in this world but not of it. Never of it again, but soon in it again after the Rapture and Second Advent. Got some friends to bring with you? Man, let's act like men as the Bible tells us to do. No excuses and no spiritual compromise!
"While he was trying to figure a way out, he had a dream. God’s angel spoke in the dream: 'Joseph, son of David, don’t hesitate to get married. Mary’s pregnancy is Spirit-conceived. God’s Holy Spirit has made her pregnant. She will bring a son to birth, and when she does, you, Joseph, will name him Jesus—‘God saves’—because he will save his people from their sins.' This would bring the prophet’s embryonic revelation to full term: Watch for this—a virgin will get pregnant and bear a son; They will name him Immanuel (Hebrew for 'God is with us'). Then Joseph woke up. He did exactly what God’s angel commanded in the dream: He married Mary. But he did not consummate the marriage until she had the baby. He named the baby Jesus." Matt. 1:20-25 msg

“Now, brothers and sisters, I have applied these things to myself and Apollos for your benefit, so that you may learn from us the meaning of the saying, ‘Do not go beyond what is written.’ Then you will not be puffed up in being a follower of one of us over against the other.” 1 Corinthians 4:6

Back in the day the Corinthians were very familiar with.. do not go beyond what is written.

The Apostle Paul wants Christians to grasp that the words and teachings of Scripture are ultimately sufficient and totally true. The Bible needs no additives or subtractions -- it doesn't need to be watered down either!

"Every word of God is pure; He is a shield unto them that put their trust in Him." Proverbs 30:5

One of my favorite English expositors was the pastor Martyn Lloyd-Jones. Ever heard of him? He once said, “I do not think it is a harsh judgment to say that the most obvious feature of the life of the Christian church today is, alas, its supe   .hh         c x  x   rficiality.”

Yikes! He went on regarding the simple obedience to the Word with, “The one main cause is our attitude towards the Bible. Our failure to take it seriously, it's our failure to take it as it is and simply allow it to speak to us.”

That's my aim today. Let's all make that our goal.. to hear from the Lord.

The Bible principles are laid out real simple right before our eyes, man, a little child could grab a hold of them. Yet so many believers sadly fail to grasp and obey God's Word. Why remain allergic to this good idea?

Around the world in churches, in workplaces, on the streets, in homes.. there's often a failure to know and wisely apply God's Word

Mr. Jones was and is right on this. It is SO true that the basic characteristic of the church in our day is its superficiality. We can't see this in all churches of course. And the situation has changed somewhat from what it was ten years ago which was even more superficial!

Sadly masses of so called believers still do not know the meaning of real commitment to the Living Word. ๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿ˜

That's why you and I are here believer. Let's mature and help other people to spiritually mature. I humbly implore, exhort, encourage.. I respectfully challenge you to press in further to know Him well and put shoe leather to Bible truth.

There’s a tremendous amount of misapplication and half-commitment in churches, of superficiality, of worldly indifference, of lukewarm and carnal apathy, of complacency, of an indolent attitude that keeps people from spiritually advancing, of...

1.) Clearly understanding the Bible with it's excellent promises and principles,

2.) Making wise application of it and quickly..

3.) Obeying it -- I'm talking about prayerfully obeying the Lord here.

Yet, this is the heart of everything for us isn't it really? Sure. What a tremendous sin it is for those who name the name of Jesus Christ to be indifferent about the principles and promises of the Christian faith.

It is what it is in so many places.. and therefore this must be addressed by the church. Glad I've found a sound local church, but many, Christians have not yet found one. Many are distracted, half committed, or even less that half or a quarter. Many have church-hurt inside, are sadly superficial, complacent, and indifferent.

Hey Buckeroo, you and I are not allowed to inject our own meanings into God's Text, or to ignore what it is saying.

Rule.. for you and me: Where the Bible is silent, we are not to speak (we're never to preach or dogmatically teach what it's not saying). We each have opinions worth about a dime a dozen. There are times we can share our opinions for what they're worth (maybe a nickel or a penny), but we are to remain silent basically where God's word is silent.

Rule: Where the Bible speaks, let us clearly, boldly, wisely speak. Think.. timing, (loving) tone (pitch), tempo, timbre (sound, the quality of), temperature (red-hot spiritually).

To study the Bible, for example, without letting it say what it really means, without letting it sink in on purpose as it should.. is a sin. Let's not! Peter spoke of this.

"..just as our beloved brother Paul also wrote to you according to the wisdom given to him by God, speaking about these things as he does in all of his letters. In which there are some things that are difficult to understand, which the untaught and unstable who have fallen into error twist and misinterpret, just as they do the rest of the Scriptures, to their own destruction." 2 Peter 3:15b-16 amp

“As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest (wrest – in Greek means to torture or to put on the rack), as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.” kjv #emph.mine

All of God's words are there for us to understand within their own context.

Some people take Scripture and lay it up on the rack so to speak, and then twist it out of shape. I call it Scrip-torture--it's flat-out wrong. Yes, there is right and there is wrong in this world still, and wrong is never ever right.

They force it to say what they want it to say. That's arrogance, that's pride, that's not for you and I to do.

We each can choose to humbly seek out wise counsel when we need such (first upwards on our knees, and then from seasoned balanced saints), but let's never do this twisting.

Why? Well, because it's a serious sin to twist the Scriptures off and away from what God intended, to not let the Scriptures say what they really mean. I do pray for illumination (not new revelations) so I can learn. That's good to do. I do my very best to submit and let the Scriptures speak as they would to me first.. as they do speak.

God's word wasn't written to us, but was written for us. What did the Text mean to the original hearers back in the day? Are there transferable truths in the Text for me here and now, and for this generation today? Ask!

Scrip-torture does go on in some Christian circles WAY TOO OFTEN. And a little bit of this is TOO OFTEN.

It happens all the time really: the twisting of the Scripture to somebody’s own bias; the twisting of the Scripture just because you’re unlearned and perhaps don’t own good tools to do it right; the twisting of the Scripture because you’re perhaps unstable inside, or want something more for you, or you do not have a solid commitment to the theological principle of truth; the twisting the Scripture simply because you do not know any better for lack the holy fear of God.. perhaps you were never taught right.

I myself, like many of us do have a whole lot to learn (I love good tools of hermeneutic and homiletics). I love Jesus the most who DOES know it all, I of course I don't know it all (like you, I'm a learner), but none of us ever need torture the truth of Scripture or misapply it.

For some five years in Europe during the 90s while pastoring in Bavaria my wife and I saw (in some congregations where we visited) several people who would take the Scriptures and forced them into meanings that were so improper. And at other times the so called ministers would avoid the Scriptures completely. It was "a feeling" and "an experience" in search of a sorta-Christian-like-interpretation.

I'd ask Liney.. What's up with this weird barking and animal sounds in this church, and then they're giving "spiritual interpretations" (yes, Germany messages) to this whacko craziness? They're closing the doors to outsiders now, honey. And there was other error and strange practices going on as well. Let's get out of here, Liney! (That just one extreme example of what I'm talking about)

Me thinks: Hey, if's it's weird instead of winsome for any outsiders to observe and become wooed in towards a relationship with Jesus Christ, then just perhaps.. God doesn't really doesn't want this stuff going on in His name.. or in His church. Ya think!?

And, of course, in the different streams a.k.a. or even near to the different "umbrellas of Christianity," you also have oneness-cults, other cults, the isms and the schisms and spasms doing bizarre strangeness and everything else in God's name. It's just worthless junk.

Can't we proceed more cautiously? Yes!

It's easy for any of us to miss God's Way. Let's not miss Him, His clear directives, His eternal purpose, or His good plan!

It's possible for you and me to study the Bible even, then let it say what it means, and even make the right application in our minds, and then simply refuse to obey it. What do you call that?.. the worst of all.

The Bible says, "So any person who knows what is right to do but does not do it, to him it is sin." James 4:17 amp

So.. there is the sin of twiiiiisting Scripture out of shape; then there is the sin of taking Scripture and using God's word for your own ends (You already know deep down inside that it's better for us all to go after Him and live right in the center of His will doin' things His way right? Sure)... and there is the sin of not even obeying Him. Let's NOT do that with the Scripture okay. The living Word is enough for you and for me.

We canNOT Scrip-torture His truths to make the Bible say what we really want it to say just to fit to our own ambitions, plans, or goals. The Holy Spirit won't allow us believers to do that. Let's all listen to Him. If you are tempted to Scrip-torture.. are you really his believer? When I've talked with some Dallasites on the streets it's amazing the strange things that they believe. Man, it's this area the buckle on the Bible-belt?

Believer, you and I cannot use the Word of God in a selfish or corrupt manner, sincerely trying to glorify God in our own way, or to gain our own ends (this is not beyond any of us doing). Why not? Because the Holy Spirit will say a big NO to that. And we dare not ignore the Word and/or not obey Him.

We don't need Scrip-torture (eveeeer), disobedience, misapplications and total avoidance away from the Word do we? NO, never ever!

Hey teacher, preacher or garden variety saint.. why can't we with contentment simply know, share, teach and preach the Word simply (all the counsels of God even verse by verse for decisions)? Why can't we all (me included) simply gain real good understanding and expertise in applying the Word simply.. for God's glory alone? We each are to walk worthy 24/7, lowly, and adorn the doctrine of God with discernment ..regardless of what others are doing around us.

What does it mean to walk worthy?

What is the meaning of charis in the Bible?

How should Christians view the Book of Mormon? It's just error from the pit.

Got some good questions about other cults or world religions?..  want to know some basics about cults and religions?

What does it mean to “not go beyond what is written” (1 Corinthians 4:6)?

What are charismatic Roman Catholics?

Does 2 Chronicles 5:14 teach slaying in the Spirit?

What is the definition of a cult?

What were the mystery religions?

What does it mean to walk in the Spirit?

Can we interpret the Bible literally?

How can I help someone to leave a toxic cult?

What is the Christian walk?

How important is Christian conduct to how the unbelieving world sees Christ?

What is aberrant teaching?.. what's the difference between a sect and a cult?

What does it mean to walk circumspectly (Ephesians 5:15)?

What is the Third Wave Movement.. of the Charismatic movement?

Got some questions about the Bible?

What is the best way to evangelize someone who is in a cult or false religion?

What does it mean to be imitators of God (Ephesians 5:1)?

What does “as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord” mean in Joshua 24:15?

Truth is not dependent on the personality or charisma of those who minister, preach or teach.

Been talking to Bob lately who attends an interesting and fascinating church with lots of action going on (that's not his real name and I don't mind mere action).

I invited him to join me. Yes, Bob's joined me some at our morning men's meeting in a gym and he has been asking some good questions about my church.

I told Bob "there is a 'charisma that is from God, but who needs any off-base exotic charismania stuff? (which is different from sound Christianity).

I don't need any heebie-jeebies, goosebumps or the fuzzy feelings.. or false impressions or specific (extrabiblical) directives from people on what I need to do to please God.

I need no liver quiver eveeer, or that out of control running of laps with my eyes closed at church, or all the shaking, quaking and jerking like we've all seen on telethon Tuesday.

Who really needs to be led by some crazy prophetess, spiritually dead priest or a self-proclaimed apostle? None. I'm just happy with soundness, what's wholesome, and the simple practical pure teaching of the Bible.

Jesus and God's written Word are good enough for me. I'm happy in Him! You can be too! Who needs the spasmodic dancing all out of control until the one falls on their face or into a church beam? None.

What? Sure, I might dance on occasion in praise and worship unto the Lord like David did (or at least try to at just the right time or place), but one of the fruits of the Spirit is self-control right, so I don't want to run into church walls with my eyes closed.. I hate to see that happen. Must hurt a lot! Some people falsely believe when the Spirit comes upon you, you'll lose all control. I say, Voluntarily, allow God gain control of all of you. It won't be weird, in Him you'll just be becoming more and more of who you really are.

Non-blessed are those who are quick to apply the Word but in the wrong sort of way, place and time.. instead of wisely applying God's word.

In essentials unity, in non-essentials (like news platform preference).. liberty, and it all things Christ's charity!

One believer at our table of six men started talking about how he couldn't stand Biden and all that he's done regarding inflation etc.

Then another great guy spoke up talking about how he couldn't put up with Trump on any day of the week, and how he's now hooked up with American rapper Kanye West, and then another believer (and all love Jesus really) started talking about his great love for Trump today. And none of this was even the topic there. Alls I could say is that soon and very soon we are going to meet the King. We believers will have a new, strong and flawless Ruler and His government without end here will be more than wonderful! How refreshing will that be! This idea, that's true, and is going to happen! No men anywhere will ever be able to complain justifiably about it or about Him. Let's all be ready. Today, I'm feeling more concerned about who's in God's house than who's in the White House.

Think about it long today (can't change anybody, won't try, I guess we all need to be careful about our news platform and intake that can affect our emotions one way or the another).

Jesus Christ has a track record more beautiful, wise, spotless and sterling than any other person who has run or ruled. Am indeed looking forward to that imminent Day! This day with him as Lord is certainly important, and that day is real important as well.

What Or Who Do You Love Most.. And Why?

I The Church.. And The Head Of It Even More!  Yeah, And He's Really Into Building.

Got 10 Reasons Why I Love The Church.

Been asked.. Kurt, do you ever seek to, or have a desire to build the church?

Not really, I indeed want to be a blessing to all the saints and sinners in and around the church for sure. Want to be in the will of God and doing His will.

I want to help believers to grow as I too am growing in the Word.. but Jesus Christ said that He’ll build His church, therefore I aim never to compete with Him, or with any believer in His body. Why do that? That’s not really our place to do that. It is our place to live and give witness for Him. I also like to invite people, or I go get them. Christ saves and adds to His church.

Jesus is building His church today and He doesn’t need me — doesn’t need any of us really.

I remember being an altar-boy in the Roman Church system as a child and didn’t consider any sort of building of any kind back then.

Has my flesh ever been tempted to build it as I grew up? Not sure, don’t think so.. I’m trying to recall a time when I thought I could build the church for the Lord.

I would love for Jesus to use me in my teens after I came to know Jesus. I still pray that he would use how I live, how I think, walk and speak. That's why I try my best to follow Him. I want His words in my mouth and in my shoe-leather so to speak 24/7/365.

Don't want to presumptuously get in the Builder's way--it's so easy to do. I pray that as He builds His church that some of that constructing will happen through my life though.

I never want to get to the end of my life, look back and try to determine what God did, what I did, what He did through me, or what He wanted to do through me ..that I did not do. I want my all to be for Him cuz He’s my first-love--do what You will, Lord. Am available.

We all want to be used of God if we are normal believers right? You too huh? Sure.

Start in His Word. Meditate upon what Jesus said, “And I say to you that you are Peter (Petros meaning small stone. See g4074), and on this rock (Petra, Rock. See g4073-strongs..) I will build My church, and the gates of Hades (meaning death) shall not prevail against it. And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.” Matthew 16:18–19 nkjv #emph-mine

“Bless the Lord, O my soul..” Psalm 103:1

Would you perhaps pray something like...

Dear God, want to know You today! Lord, while we have breath and days.. we all-out praise Your Holy Name! With all we are in You. Your presence, what a privilege and JOY for each! We choose to walk with, and worship You alone, because there are none like You anywhere! So many have looked high and low.. everywhere else! Yes, we thank and praise You for who You are, and for all that You have done, and have planned for Your Church. GOOD and glorious is Your redemption plan for us. You said You'd build it--Your Church, Jesus, so I won't compete with you, but please do use me however You would like to.. okay. Wherever, whatever, whenever, however for Your glory! I love Your church because You love her dearly, but I love You most because Your are the Way for each of us, Jesus. You are man's ultimate Solution when no church or denomination is or ever has been. Danke Herr. In Jesus' Name I pray. Amen.

How does Psalm 103 start? Well, it opens with this robust, passionate, rousing exhortation for believers: “Bless the LORD, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name!” (see verse 1, ESV). That same command to “bless the Lord, O my soul!” is repeated in the next verse too (Psalm 103:2, NKJV), and at the end of the psalm (verse 22), and twice again in Psalm 104, (verses 1 and 35). Psalm 103 begins with an individual doing what? This: blessing the Lord with his soul, and it ends with the angels and all of creation joining in blessing Him (verses 20–22).

The phrase O my soul refers to the author’s total human being—his inner self. The New Living Translation renders the meaning of soul here mentioned in Psalm 103:1 more transparently it would appear: “Let all that I am praise the LORD; with my whole heart, I will praise his holy name.”

When we bless the Lord with our soul, we are all-out passionately praising Him with our whole hearts, not half-heartedly—with all that we are and everything we have within us!

In addition to “soul,” the Enhanced Strong’s Lexicon gives several English meanings for the original Hebrew word (nephesh), including “heart,” “myself,” “self,” “the breathing substance,” “living being,” “inner being of a person,” “the man himself.” To “bless” the Lord is to all out praise Him because we love Him most

We each have such limited time here to follow and praise Jesus.. so it's kind of smart wouldn't ya think.. to make each day and moment count in blessing our most high God and those He created for His purposes.

All the way.. H O L Y

He's holy and we need to remember this about Him.

Soft words produce hard hearts. You show me a local church where soft words are preached, and I will show you a church filled with hard hearts.

Jeremiah said, The prophet who has a dream, let him tell a dream; And he who has My word, let him speak My word faithfully. What is the chaff to the wheat?" says the LORD. 'Is not My word like a fire?' says the LORD, 'And like a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces?' Jeremiah 23:28–29 nkjv (Got a sec to read some more?)

Like “a hammer that smashes a rock”.. really?

It's better to walk with and focus on Christ -- he is filled with grace and truth. It's better to have a high view of God the Father in a church. Yes, Jesus is straightforward, kind, just, HOLY and unchanging. And he is interceding for you and me, desiring us to uncompromisingly rep Him well before a worldly world!

Happy Thanksgiving!

How good it is to say..

Thanks gobs Lord for everything, to sing His praises, to worship Him acceptably. There's never a day not to! This is always appropriate.

I'm convinced that you can do that 100% reverently and in your own way!

"..He heals the brokenhearted, binding up their wounds. He counts the stars and calls them all by name. How great He is! His power is absolute! His understanding is unlimited." Psalm 147:1-5

Personally, I thank God for the...

1.) inheritance,

2.) deliverance and

3.) transference..

..from the kingdom of darkness into the Kingdom of light and real life in the Son! Thank you Lord for the Bible narrative of King David as well. Helpful!

"May you be filled with joy, always thanking the Father. He has enabled you to share in the inheritance (yes,
inheritance from a very generous Father that doesn't change) that belongs to his people, who live in the light. For he has rescued us from the kingdom of darkness (complete not partial deliverance) and transferred us into the Kingdom of his dear Son (full transference forever, not temporary).." Colossians 1:11b-13 nlt #emph.mine

In a twisted, corrupt and very confused culture that's struggling just to get it.. in this culture that currently is having an identity crisis, it's time for men to simply man up, to give thanks to their Creator, and to be who He designed them to be. Let's all give thanks and be who God designed us to be!

Every day, let's give thanks to the Father, to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit for His great love! The fruit of the Spirit is love--thank You. God is love--thank you for being who You are! So SO worthy!

"..wear love. It’s your basic, all-purpose garment. Never be without it. Let the peace of Christ keep you in tune with each other, in step with each other. None of this going off and doing your own thing. And cultivate thankfulness. Let the Word of Christ—the Message—have the run of the house. Give it plenty of room in your lives. Instruct and direct one another using good common sense. And sing, sing your hearts out to God! Let every detail in your lives—words, actions, whatever—be done in the name of the Master, Jesus, thanking God the Father every step of the way." Colossians 3:14b-17 msg

Did the pilgrims come to this land to obtain religious freedom, freedom of worship? No they already had it in Liden Holland. 1620 was an important year. They said they were coming to the Americas to evangelize the Indians (as missionaries for the Lord) yes, to help fulfill the great commission. In schools 1/5 of American students don't even know the country the pilgrims originally left from. Issues in education. Csn 11-04

Giving Thanks Oughta Be An All-Year Kind Of Thang. Sure, It's Never Been A Time-Waister For Anyone To Simply Express Gratitude!

Prayerfully muse on...

Ps 100:4 nkj - "Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name. 5For the Lord is good"

Rom 1:21 nkj - “although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened.”

Ps 107:22 mess - “Offer thanksgiving sacrifices, tell the world what he’s done—sing it out!”

Ps 116:17 mess - “I’m ready to offer the thanksgiving sacrifice and pray in the name of GOD.”

Ps 147:7 mess - "Sing to GOD a thanksgiving hymn, play music on your instruments to God”

Col. 2:7 mess - “let your living spill over into thanksgiving.”

Col 1:2-3 mess - “May everything good from God our Father be yours! 3Our prayers for you are always spilling over into thanksgivings. We can’t quit thanking God our Father and Jesus our Messiah for you!”

Eph 5:4 mess - "Thanksgiving is our dialect."

Jonah 2:8-9 mess - "Those who worship hollow gods, god-frauds, walk away from their only true love. But I’m worshiping you, GOD, calling out in thanksgiving!"

Did you know that our holiday celebration - Thanksgiving - actually has an Old Testament precedent? Yep, it sure does.

It certainly does. The Israelites way back in the day expressed their gratitude vertically. And they offered pure worship to the only God existing through a series of five different offerings:

1.) The burnt offering,
2.) The grain offering,
3.) The peace offering,
4.) The sin offering, and
5.) The trespass offering.

And guess what.. the last two were compulsory, y'all. If you were Jewish back then, you had to do this.

But the first three were totally voluntary; you did them only if you really wanted to. And so those three types of offerings were important to God; He called them "a sweet-smelling aroma to the Lord."

The meaning of the burnt offering was the full consecration of one's self or person to God, and the grain offering was all about the dedication level of one's service as unto God.

The peace offering is my very favorite of em all; it's the celebration of true salvation. Like our Thanksgiving holiday, the people gathered together to rejoice and share a meal with fellowship. They brought a portion of it as a sacrifice, and a portion of it went to the priest. The rest of it they took with them home, they cooked it up, and then had friends and family members over to their homes to thank the Lord for what He had done for them.

Am bracing. Feelin' concerned for a rending that often happens.. ouch. I feel it too. It's from a bonding together. Didn't ask for, or seek this -- didn't even want this. Tried to put it off multiple times.

There's indeed a nurture-aspect that is real and often needed. So many have hurts in our fallen sin-cursed world today. Sorry that Liney and I work jobs still. Some have a gift and constantly get out there and use it. They encourage and make people feel special. How many get much attention these days when they need some. With others it's from a political campaigning via sham-kindness to gain numbers of devotees. Perhaps they've seen and caused the change coming, and they want to come out on top as king of the hill so to speak.

Let's do this as Jesus leads for His glory! Personally, just want to be in the will of God don't you.. and I won't tell anyone where that is for them. Inquire of God for yourself please. My close friends have gotten some unwanted calls, it's hard for them.

Keep your eyes on Jesus -- cling to Him. Get in, or continue on in fellowship with Him, believer. He's the ultimate Solution for all, not any of us mere humans. Am grateful that Romans 8:28 is still in the Bible!

Really wish I had more fitting words to help them with.

"For the sake of each of us he laid down his life—worth no less than the universe. He demands of us in return our lives for the sake of each other." ~ Clement of Alexandria

If you're currently out of fellowship with God, "'..rend your hearts and not your garments.' Return to the LORD your God, for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love; and he relents over disaster." Joel 2:13

"Rip your hearts in sorrow and contrition and not your garments.” amp

Are our priorities in proper order? May I say this.. as simply and gingerly as I can.. you have to focus yourself away from yourself. Me too, away from the toxic 1 on 1 communication you've heard.. up to the living Word of God instead.

Christ is building his church, I pray He'll use me in that. Building a man-centered church is unsound and unwise. Building around felt-needs is utterly contrary to Scripture. Yes, and hyperfocusing on you, and on your problems, and on your dilemmas, and on your circumstances, and on your situations is simply counterproductive. And while it may intend to help you for a time, the unintended consequence becomes you are the one being worshiped.. and you shouldn’t be worshiped. This is a big problem in our society today. You are the center of attention.. constantly ..not Him who should be. You are the center of the focus. And then the unintended consequence is when you feel like you don’t have any particular needs, or they’re not doing a very good job of meeting those needs, you don’t need a church. If they fail to deliver what you think you need, you check out. You bolt on down the road.

So we need to get back to what the really important matters of the church are. As the hymn writer said, "You want to go to church to get lost in wonder, love and praise. You want to go to church to forget about yourself, to set yourself aside, and to lose yourself in the glory and wonder of God."

Let's forget about the constant bad emotions, let's forget about ourselves and concentrate on Jesus and worship Him! A God-centered preacher, a God-centered teacher and or a co-teacher focused on the Lord.. a God-centered worship is what you really want in a church. That's what we need! When you look for a local church and life group, that’s exactly what you want.

You want to see people consistently being brought before God in His word. You want those who are being brought into the very throne room of heaven to see His glory, and His majesty, and the wonder of who He is.. and His blazing righteousness, and His holiness.

Trials arrive, ouch!!.. the toxicity might go or just leave it. Chin up, it'll pass. Get in, stay in a healthy group for fellowship.

Me, see it as a gift right now, really? No, me? As if! Can I quickly re-gift it away?

I didn't, we didn’t ask for it. Ouch.. hurting! God allowed it, therefore we can thank and praise God in it. Not for it per se, but in it and through it.

Rejoice in the Lord away! "Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus."1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

In Him, and "in" it. Not for it. Dietrich Bonhoeffer saw and experienced suffering during the reign of Nazism in Germany. I was told by my dad that my great Uncle Chancler Kurt von Schleicher fought against it and suffered too (from the SS). Both died because of this horrendous evil.

Bonhoeffer was a saved pastor, and he loved the Scriptures. He prayed in faith but God allowed it there in Germany. He gratefully wrote letters and notes.

Bonhoeffer’s solution to the problem of pain and suffering was basically crafted during his solitary confinement ward at Berlin-Tegel Military Detention Center where Bonhoeffer was imprisoned for his participation in a failed plot to assassinate Hitler. Tegel was the place where he spent his last eighteen months and then he was sadly executed on April 9th 1945. So many needlessly died! So many wonderful Jewish people suffered and were killed as well. How do you feel when egotists oust you for no wrong you've done or taught? There are some in every era (only God can judge their heart and motives. We can evaluate their message.)

“Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.” Philippians 2:12-18 esv

“Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoiced in hope of the glory of God. Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.” Romans 5:1-5 esv

Dietrich Bonhoeffer was a man who loved the truth and knew how to suffer joyfully like his Savior. He’d learned. Yes, while staying in fellowship with Christ. He didn’t seek for suffering. He didn't cause himself pain, and didn’t pray for suffering. Why?, Well, because he was a normal human, not some religious person thinking he could gain brownie points with God for voluntary suffering.

The glory of God is my hope. I need that hope. I sing of that hope. I smile at that hope. I rejoice in that hope. But up to this point I have never counted it a joy when I have suffered for that hope. (James 1:2-4) I know that if I am a Christian I will suffer (John 15:20; 2 Timothy 3:12). But I always saw that suffering as a necessary evil and not a necessary joy. Yes, suffering is rooted in much evil. But if my savior was most glorified through suffering, then how can I call him my Savior if I reject the very suffering that He appointed to me to bring him more glory?  Further, that suffering produce more hope than without out that suffering. And I need more hope.

Christian suffering isn’t minimized compared to the rest of the world. Christian suffering is purifying. The suffering that is senseless and degrading for the unbeliever (non-Christian) is hope-building and God glorifying for the Christian.

Oh, may I ever rejoice in the sufferings that I am called to endure for the name of Jesus Christ. Not so that I might be a silently-smiling-masochist. But so, that my great Savior, Jesus Christ, might be seen as more glorious to those who suffer without hope.[1]

I say do all things without gripey grumbling or disheartened disputing, that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a very crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, holding fast to the word of life. Cling to the living Word of life, He’s been through suffering and came out victorious.

The God of the Bible according Bonhoeffer, is not deus ex machine, a being that mechanical appears to solve our insoluble problems. He is not a being that we evoke as an explanation of unexplainable due to our epistemic limitation. He is not a being that we call upon to offer us strength in our powerlessness and weakest moments. No. If God was such a being, then He is no longer needed in this world.
