Ernest Hemingway, perhaps the most celebrated author in America, could have chosen a different path despite his upbringing and the insensitivity of his parents.

Hemmingway! Perhaps the most diligent and flexible in regards to writing spaces. The man could write standing up, with bombs detonating around him. That's commitment! ~ LMB
martha gellhorn , journalist, third wife of Hemingway, born in St.Louis
He liked listening, he liked observing, he liked honesty and simply describing inner feelings. Was good at describing things, situations and feelings. His dad was a perfectionist, his mom made some really bad choices too. Sad. Saying you are against evil doesn't make you good. No Christian dad is perfect. What's your home-life like? Shame-based and mean or grace-based and filled with God's kind of love?
His parents would have done well to tell Ernest, Hey son, no matter the choices you make in life, even if we don’t agree with those choices because they go against Scripture or degenerate the Christian faith has some have them thus far have, we too are sinners and we love you deeply, Ernest. So sorry if we somehow hurt you, son. Tell us. Nothing you do or don't do, that you write, say or not say.. will change that. We love you and never want to be far away from you. Ernest didn't have to commit suicide just because his dad did that.. just because his mom included that gun into the middle of his birthday cake to Ernest as a hint to go and do the same stupid thing. What kind of warp thinking is this from so-called (alleged) Christian parents. And you and I don't have to go and repeat the bad choices of our parents or of other alleged Christians. Overcome evil with good, don't be overcome by evil and sin.
“The idealized life of Ernest Hemingway, the one the writer himself wanted the world to buy, was simple: he was the perfect man, the perfect synthesis of brain and brawn. Driven by a thirst for adventure, he was a swashbuckling, hard-drinking pugilist who loved being in the thick of the action, whether in the front line of battle or within charging distance of a water buffalo. He also happened to be the finest writer around, disdaining the grandiose wordiness of Victorian prose for a clean, stripped-back simplicity, conveying emotion by what was not said as much as by what was.
I love this. Too many people are just waiting for their turn to talk, no one ever actually listens and embraces whats been said. Psh smdhWounded on the Italian front in the First World War, he was a handsome convalescent who fell in love with a pretty nurse and wrote A Farewell to Arms as a result. In the 1920s, he was at the forefront of American writers and artists who hung out in Paris, "being geniuses together". In the 1930s Ernest went to Spain to fight for the republic against Franco and wrote For Whom the Bell Tolls, in which a brave American hero falls in love with a peasant guerrilla called Maria. In the Second World War, he was at the Normandy landings and the liberation of Paris. After the war he retired with his fourth wife to Cuba, where he fished for marlins and wrote The Old Man and the Sea, won the Nobel Prize, and "was lionised" wherever he went. ~ John Walsh
Everyone struggles with problems that seem too big to handle, or with those that come from flawed parents who expect so SO much. But conflicts in our out of the home, are really opportunities for each of us to learn how to rely more faithfully on a good Father-God who really cares about us.. who loves each of us far more than any human parent ever could.
What are the reasons why this so called literary giant, this adventure-loving personality, this rumbustious man of exciting action, this bullfighter, this deep-sea fisherman, this great white hunter, this warrior from old battlefields, this gunslinger, this four-times-married dude, this all-round lonely but tough American..would do himself in. How could he? Why would he? It was his selfish choice, but what was his pain like? God knows.
What are the lies that people believe, dwell on and then go destroy themselves with? Only one knows them all. What lies have you repeatedly heard and now somehow believe? I can’t think of them all.
Are you from a shame-based home life, or from a grace-based home life? Have you rejected everything your parents believed? Why? Are you wondering how to clear your conscience, get right with God and reestablish broken relationships ehile here? Worthy or not, you can know real, and lasting peace inside regardless of the mistakes others make. Are you wanting an inner assurance that you are forgiven and that God still has a good plan for your life? Jesus is the God of second chances and more even.
After You've Blown It; Just Reconnect with God (Turn and Trust Jesus -- He Forgives Any Who Sincerely Ask Him To) and Reconnect with Others too If You’ve Been by Them... or Hurt Them.

Take some time if you can to go read the story of Mr. Hemingway that’s been so well-summarized by Daniel Pawley, “Ernest Hemingway: Tragedy of an Evangelical Family.” More importantly, read the stories, and even fairly similar stories willful stuborn.people sort of like Earnest in the Bible.
Do you walk according to the lusts of the flesh, the lusts of the eyes, the pride of life, or according to unbelief and what this world system wants you to do? Why? Musing over this...
“And it came about at that time, that Judah departed from his brothers and visited a certain Adullamite, whose name was Hirah. Judah saw there a daughter of a certain Canaanite whose name was Shua; and he took her and went in to her. So she conceived and bore a son and he named him Er.” Read Genesis 38:1-3.
After high school, he moved to Kansas City to become a reporter. He stopped going to church and began drifting from his upbringing. He enlisted in World War I, was wounded, and took to drinking to ease the pain. He married a worldly woman and moved to Paris to further his writing career. Totally alienated from his parents, eventually he would go through four wives. He was notorious for his drunkenness. In his late years, “he grew distant from everyone. He would not stand up straight and, he stopped communicating verbally.” A friend said that his “every hour was filled with the pain of being truly lost and alone.” Hemingway’s own description was, “I live in a vacuum that is as lonely as a radio tube when the batteries are dead and there is no current to plug into.” Finally, on a sunny Sunday morning in Idaho, at age 61, Ernest Hemingway put a shotgun to his head and pulled the trigger. Eleven Rules You Will Never Learn In School.. By Steve Jobs

Rule 1: Life is not fair — get used to it!
Rule 2: The world won’t care about your self-esteem. The world will expect you to accomplish something BEFORE you feel good about yourself.
Rule 3: You will NOT make $60,000 a year right out of high school. You won’t be a vice-president with a car phone until you earn both.
Rule 4: If you think your teacher is tough, wait till you get a boss.
Rule 5: Flipping burgers is not beneath your dignity. Your Grandparents had a different word for burger flipping — they called it opportunity.
Rule 6: If you mess up, it’s not your parents’ fault, so don’t whine about your mistakes, learn from them.
Rule 7: Before you were born, your parents weren’t as boring as they are now. They got that way from paying your bills, cleaning your clothes and listening to you talk about how cool you thought you are. So before you save the rain forest from the parasites of your parent’s generation, try delousing the closet in your own room.
Rule 8: Your school may have done away with winners and losers, but life HAS NOT. In some schools they have abolished failing grades and they’ll give you as MANY TIMES as you want to get the right answer. This doesn’t bear the slightest resemblance to ANYTHING in real life.
Rule 9: Life is not divided into semesters. You don’t get summers off and very few employers are interested in helping you FIND YOURSELF. Do that on your own time.
Rule 10: Television is NOT real life. In real life people actually have to leave the coffee shop and go to jobs.
Rule 11: Be nice to nerds. Chances are you’ll end up working for one.

"Whatever you do, work at it WITH ALL YOUR HEART, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving." Colossians 3:23-24 #EmphMine

Some bonus employment Ideas that go along with Steve great ideas. Be awake cuz basically.. you got to bed not too late. Be there early. Work hard and smart submitting to those in authority..short of sin. Why?.. cuz people lackin' experience don't typically start out as boss. Have a heart to do more than asked to do. Work efficiently, but not so many hours that you hurt those you love. Work as unto the Lord for His glory.. yup, with the Lord leading. Sure, it's a good witness, believer.

I like the Greatest Message and I like those by the sea. The sea and those who live near it ..are to be seen, to be heard, to be loved and told. For sure, the people are.

The people by the sea have more value that all the nice creatures and creation. I've got this best Friend who took away all my wrong-doin's, yep my sin. Didn't cost me a pile of cash -- was free. Livin' free -- it's a good thing! You can walk well, know Him well and make Him well known... as well. Grab a Bible and go share the Christian Gospel with boldness. You can do this!
“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that everyone who believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him. Whoever believes in Him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe has already been condemned, because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son..” John 3:16-18 Follow Him. Not me.. primarily. Facebook.com/shareJesus

Had a conversation with a young man from Peru while passin' Haiti. He's now a pray-er. Puts the right address on his prayers. Important. To the Father in Jesus' Name. The glory and praise to the Lord -- salvation is His thing.

Wat.. who’s the fairest of them all? Okay, to me there is One in the whole universe. His name is Jesus. Yup.

Who? What? Where? Things.. personalities? Beautiful?
It might last “a little while” with some individuals, the grass withers and the flower fades.. but it’s not that way with God’s personality. He’s always the most beautiful person. Doesn’t change. So SO pure, so thoughtful, so good, so unselfish and kind in His character. And He sees where you go, what you say, and think with the motives. Why? Well, He loves you so much He just can’t take his eyes off of you. Ponder this.
Never lose an opportunity of seein' what really needs to be seen.. not all needs to be.. or of hearin' what needs to be heard.

Makes ya think. Anything?..some things sure! You know how many persons have been made beautiful outwardly ..a good God made em that way..  but today via personal choices are far from that inwardly. And beautiful people for money etc today still lure others away into evil, but not all. So SO arrogant, selfish and ugly inside, but they don’t really have to stay that way even if they can’t regain all that they’ve lost. Mr. Lu-Cifer was very beaufiful, he still lures people away into sin. I mean that fallen angel a.k.a. Satan with his creepy crowd and he can’t repent ever -- no hope for him, he is firmly set in his rebellious sin and he still wants and seeks to take as many people down as possible with him. Down forever, no return. Misery loves company I guess. But there’s a bit of time for you it appears -- you can still turn and trust Christ. Choices matter, and some more than others. One is far more. Do I kinda need some helpful indicators during this season of my life? Sure, we all do to walk in victory.

Evil Hearts - Here's Some Indicators For Ya. Watch And Pray.

Evil hearts...evil people are experts at creating confusion and contention.

Ask yourself.. What side has been out payin' for that kinda stuff to happen with loud street riots and cheating? We can wisely show love to all people, and pray for all too. Pray for leaders and so called leaders on both sides -- on all sides. There appears to be some evil people in both parties here where I live.
(Psalms 5:8; 10:7; 58:3; 109:2–5; 140:2; Proverbs 6:13,14; 6:18,19; 12:13; 16:20; 16:27, 28; 30:14; Job 15:35Jeremiah 18:18Nehemiah 6:8Micah 2:1Matthew 12:34,35; Acts 6:11–13; 2 Peter 3:16)

Evil hearts ..evil people are experts at fooling others with their smooth speech and flattering words.

Look at the fruit of their lives. Good or smelly? Look for the follow through of their words, you will find no real evidence of godly growth or good change. Or is it all just cheating with smoke and mirrors. (Psalms 50:19; 52:2,3; 57:4; 59:7; 101:7; Proverbs 12:5; 26:23–26; 26:28; Job 20:12Jeremiah 12:6Matthew 26:59Acts 6:11–13; Romans 16:17,18; 2 Corinthians 11:13,14; 2 Timothy 3:2–5; 3:13; Titus 1:10,16).

Evil hearts...I mean evil people with that kind of heart condition -- they crave evil stuff, and demand gobs and seek to control others. Their highest authority here is their own self-reverence. Not submitting short of sin.. to direct Authority (the one flawless God) or to flawed delegated authorities -- mere human authorities (i.e., parents and teachers for kids, or police and the nation's leader).

Proud in a bad way, not humble in a good way. They reject feedback, tactful rebukes or good correction, real accountability, and make up their own rules to live by. Rebels against authority. They use Scripture to their own advantage but ignore and reject passages that might require self-correction and repentance. (Romans 2:8Psalms 10; 36:1–4; 50:16–22; 54:5,6; 73:6–9; Proverbs 21:24Jude 1:8–16).

Evil hearts play on the sympathies of good-willed people, they manipulate, selfishly exploit, deceive, yup often trumping the grace card.

They demand mercy but give none of that out themselves. They demand warmth, forgiveness, money and intimacy from those they have harmed with no empathy for the pain they have caused and no real intention of making amends or working hard to rebuild broken trust. Have you been watching what has been happening to German women, to the elderly and to little children in Europe lately? (Go see Proverbs 21:101 Peter 2:16Jude 1:4 in the Bible).

Evil people with hearts whack-by-personal-choice refuse to repent (to U-turn to God away from pet-sins), so they have no conscience–via suborn willfulness it gets seared-like, and they have no more remorse inside.

They do not struggle against sin or evil, not against the world’s system or their old fleshly nature—they delight in the works of the flesh, in sin, in destruction—all the while puffed up, masquerading as someone of noble character. (Proverbs 2:14–15; 10:23; 12:10; 21:27,29; Isaiah 32:6Romans 1:302 Corinthians 11:13–15).

“Love.. always protects” the people from evil people and the harm they bring. There is a time to confront the evil person head on, Christian. First, check yourself out – don’t act all self-righteousness. I don’t mean do the work of police if you aren’t one, or fail to call them when a crime happens (I know pastors who fail and act as police – it’s wrong). But you must name evil for what it is – sin to be abandoned.

I’d rather be Christ-focused praising Him, but also aware. That’s why I read the Good News and then some bad world news. I really don’t want to be devil-focused at all..as many choose to live.. or to have any extended conversations with this fallen-angel-loser, but this morning I was thinking about eight of the satanic attacks we often see as well as the Bible verses that address these:
1.) Relational conflict – relationships all messed up. The devil loves to help make that happen.
2.) Sex outside of marriage (Basic: I mean a male husband with female wife). The devil is a religious sort of perv. It’s wrong.. says God. Sure, the Bible tells us this for our own good. We're all sinners with huge value, and yet He loves us all the same. Simple – repent and believe in Jesus. You know what I am talking about – Fornication, Adultery. Also been seeing countless rapes on kids and women in Europe for way too long.
3.) Mr. Lu-Cifer and his dweebs (fallen angels) want you to live as a rebel. I don’t mean rebelling against the pressure to do what is wrong here.
4.) Satan and his team also want a wrong sort of competitive spirit in you, Christian – I mean rivalries with other believers.
5.) He also wants you to live with jealousy, envy, deceit and then act on that weirdness.
6.) Demons want you to worry gobs (to be filled with destructive anxieties).
7.) They want you to be all about apostasy, bailing out on God completely –walking away cuz you’re done. Hey, keep fighting the good fight of faith in Christ – put on the full armor of God regardless of the trials or troubles you’ve been experiencing. Do you have spiritual opposition today? Stand firm in the faith. Guard your trust in Christ cuz He is still so trustworthy. Always has been. Facebook.com/shareJesus
Accomplish more in life by doin' less. Do more edifying things, and less of the other. Let's sow to the Spirit and not sow to the fleshly nature or to this world's system -- you know what I mean. How do you and I overcome evil with good? Check out what the Bible says. Submit to God, and resist evil. Paul said in..
No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.

Galatians 5:16

But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.

James 4:7

Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

1 Corinthians 6:18-20

Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body. Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.

Hebrews 2:18

For because he himself has suffered when tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.

Ephesians 6:10-18

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, …

James 4:17

So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin.

James 1:14

But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire.

1 John 1:9

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Hebrews 4:15

For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin.
