11 things in this uncertain world ..gettin’ more uncertain.. that you and I can know for certain!

What can you be 100% certain about?

1. You can be certain that a good God has a good purpose for your future.

Psalm 57:2 says, “I cry out to God Most High, to God who fulfills his purpose for me.”

2. You can know deep in your knower that you were not an accident. You were born on purpose and for a Purpose!

“For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day. Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus. That good thing which was committed unto thee keep by the Holy Ghost which dwelleth in us.” 2 Timothy 1:12–14 (See more on this one)

What does the Bible say about how to find purpose in life?

What is the real meaning of life?

What does it mean to be called according to His purpose (Romans 8:28)?

What’s the purpose of that famous question, “What is your life?” in James 4:14?

What can you know for certain, believer?

God certainly wants you, He wants me, He didn’t want heaven without us. He wants you to certainly know him today, to know that you’re really saved, and to have this two-way meaningful relationship through Christ.

3. You can know that a good God has a good plan for your life. In fact, His plan for you is far better than your plan for yourself.

God wants you to know His will for you, He wants you to run back to Him asking for the specifics of His will for you, and He wants you to live securely with Him in His will.. doing His will His way. You can be certain that what God starts, He will finish.

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11 esv

4. You can be certain about gobs of stuff! You can know inside that you’ve passed from death to life. You can be sure that God loves you every single day, every single moment, and that what He starts.. He finishes. You can be certain that God cares so much for you that He wants you to know all that you can know about Him and what He has in store.

“Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.” John 5:24 esv

Cuz of the cross at Calvary God ain’t mad at you, He’s mad about you! Yes, you can know that experientially!

The word “know” occurs 904 times in the New King James Bible. “Certainly” occurs 51 times. “Know certainly” appears eight times and “know for certain” occurs seven times.

“..being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” Philippians 1:6

When the Apostle Paul wrote to the believers in the church at Philippi, he knew his life was nearing the end. Although he was imprisoned and in chains, he wrote to his friends, encouraging them to rejoice in the Lord no matter the circumstances.

5. You can know for certain that God is able to keep you through thick and thin all the way home, believer.

6. You can know for certain believer that everything that’s happening in this world around both you and me is headed for a certain conclusion.

7. You can be certain there’s a soon-coming rapture (where believers are snatched away to heaven, yeah, it’s in the Bible) and then a second coming of Christ here to earth. Do a study on both.

8. You can be certain that God isn’t halfway sovereign, but He is totally sovereign.

You and I in the future will undoubtedly run into some things that we just don’t understand, that we just don’t “know” about, or that we can’t fully grasp or wrap our heads all the way around, but you and I never need to exchange what we do know for what we do not yet know.

There are some things that we can know for sure right now, and that we can stand on. Like the promises of God in the Bible. They are sure and firm. He’s never let us down yet. He’s never once failed to keep His promises. He’s kept all his promises thus far and God will continue to keep them. We have a sure foundation in God’s living Word.

Yes God will always keep His word.

We never want to trade in what we do certainly know for what we don’t get, and can’t yet understand.

We might never know some things this side of heaven, so hold on to Him.

9. Belliever, we can be certain that our names are written down in heaven.

“You have come to the assembly of God’s firstborn children, whose names are written in heaven. You have come to God himself, who is the judge over all things. You have come to the spirits of the righteous ones in heaven who have now been made perfect.” Hebrews 12:23 nlt

10. You can know you are saved (yep, that’s a Bible term, not a religious term).

“These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: and if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.” 1 John 5:13–15 kjv

11. You can know that your sins are fully forgiven.

But how could God forgive me when I have so much trouble trying to forgive myself? Well, it’s cuz the cross He can, so if you want to be sure come to the One who died on the cross for you (Jesus Christ).

But what about all my sins that I commit in the future which I try to avoid committing? Well, when Jesus died on the cross, he died for all those sins that you were going to commit in the future. They haven’t even happened yet. You haven’t made the foolish choice to yet.

“He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life. These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life.” 1 John 5:12–13

“Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life.” John 5:24

“Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to make you stand in the presence of His glory blameless with great joy..” Jude 1:24

“The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God..” Romans 8:16

“Therefore He is able also to save forever those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.” Hebrews 7:25

“My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand.” John 10:29

“Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.” Ephesians 4:30

“Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes has eternal life.” John 6:47

“For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38–39

Been spending some time in First John lately. I love this book of the Bible. It speaks to me. You can live certain, you can live confident and secure in Christ. Yes all the way confident, not halfway if you don’t want to. You never have to live addled in this crazy, dazed, confused, befuddled and radically disoriented world.

“Delight yourself in the Lord and He’ll give you the desires of your heart.” Psalm 37:4

If you will firsthand know, personally know Jesus Christ. If you’re delighting in the Lord as your first-love, if you’re prayerful, if your delight is in Him then guess what.. He’ll plant the desires for the things that glorify Him in your heart, and those will be the things you’ll pray for, and those will be the things He’ll answer.

Know this for certain: Whatever you ask of the Lord, according to His will, He will indeed hear you; and if He hears, He answers. Yes, No or Wait (He often wants to give more than you and I ask for in His timing). And if He answers in the affirmative, guess what.. you have what you asked.

Take the opportunity today to call upon the Lord and glorify Him. Take Him and His promises seriously because all of the resources of heaven are at your disposal. Not for selfish ends. So what do we know for certain? We believers know that we have eternal life and we know we have our prayers answered.

There are times when we just don’t know His will so we say, “Whatever you will, Lord, if it’s your will, if it’s your will, if it’s your will, if it’s your will.” We always pray that. So we know this truth. We know that God grants our requests for the things that are in His will.

Q: Can the lost person know God in a personal way? Sure. Are you open to truth, or closed-minded, or not really sure?

Q: Does God ever answer the prayer of an unregenerate person? He might. He will indeed answer the prayer of honest confession, of true repentance and then of faith in Christ. You know, a sincere sinner’s prayer for saving grace. He loves us and wants to save as many as will turn to him for salvation, for mercy, for full forgiveness. Absolutely, but does God ever answer just the general prayers of non-believers? The answer to that question is He may choose to, He’s not obligated to. He may choose to, He can do whatever He wants whenever He wants to do it, and it may suit His purpose to hear some petition from an unbeliever, but He’s under no obligation to answer. Sin separates, it cuts the unregenerate man off from God. And, therefore, there is no certainty that can be given to a non-believer that God will hear anything that he ever says, that he ever prays. That’s SO sad!

All those prayers about family, health, children, jobs, crises, all the prayers about needs, all the prayers about life-and-death matters, all the prayers that go up and go up and go up, all the prayers that go up at events, from political events to athletic events, all the prayers that go up day after day in various venues and various times and places and some official and some unofficial by all the unregenerate of the world, and God is under no obligation ever to answer any of them? But when a believer prays in the name of Christ and according to His will, God has obligated Himself to answer. This is a Christian certainty.

See 1 John 5:14–17 (meditate upon and memorize this if you like), this passage deals with Christian certainties!

We live and walk by certain promises, not by feelings or explanations.

We live on certainties in a world of uncertainty. In some ways, we go against and are against the grain of this world. We Christians are considered such an intolerable group in an age of too much tolerance. I do try to be tolerant as the Lord leads, of course, he leads in this. But so many people tolerate almost anything except those who live by absolutes. So many tolerate pure evil even. But Jesus is pure, He’s opposed to evil, and Christianity is based on absolutes. You’ve got to get to know the Christian certainties, things of which we are absolutely sure.

So many people are running to and fro for an experience today. They are trying to listen for the voice of God and MAN, who wouldn’t want to hear Him speak to them personally? (that’s why I like to prayerfully read the Bible, and listen to expository Bible teaching)!

Many want to get a so-called prophecy via some “extra gifted” Morris Burrillo or from some alleged “woman of God” with a back-breath for say guidance of where to go each day, or get a word of knowledge from Benny Kinn on where to spend their life, or a word of wisdom from Kenneth Bopeland on who to go see for bucks. Some demand to have the Lord give them a sign, or to directly speak to them audibly accompanied by some liver quiver or goosebumps.

Hey, There is no way to be certain about any such exotic pursuit or any supposed experience that comes as a result of this sort of pursuit.

The only thing we know for absolute certain is that the Bible is true and what it affirms.. is certain!

The purpose of John in writing the First John epistle is to create certainty in our minds of real Christians (See in the word how God wants this for all of us). Yes, and certainty about Christ, certainty about salvation, and certainty about all that God has promised us.

That’s why the word “know” appears 39 times in this one letter. Count how many times you see “Know”. This whole epistle is about knowing things for certain, and John sums up his letter with five wonderful certainties too — they really are a summation of what he’s been saying throughout the whole epistle.

Believer, you can certainly know that you are individually a member of the body of Christ. Would you like to?

“Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and make them members of a harlot? Certainly not!” 1 Corinthians 6:15 nkjv
