He sent for her to come join him.

"..And David sent and communed with Abigail, to take her to him to wife." 1 Samuel 25:39 (b)

No doubt at all that David was impressed not only with Abigail’s beautiful countenance, but also by her classy humility, discernment and spiritual sensitivity. Such a wise and practical lady!

"And when the servants of David were come to Abigail to Carmel, they spake unto her, saying, David sent us unto thee to take thee to him to wife. And she arose, and bowed herself on her face to the earth, and said, Behold, let thine handmaid be a servant to wash the feet of the servants of my lord. And Abigail hasted, and arose, and rode upon an ass, with five damsels of hers that went after her; and she went after the messengers of David, and became his wife." 1 Samuel 25:40–42

Hey, are you married to a Nabal-type of dude? Sorry ‘bout that--come close to Jesus who really cares for you! Yes, be encouraged in the Lord . Be loyal and kindhearted. Live righteously in close relationship with Jesus Christ starting today!

How did you get linked to your Nabal-type? Where you away from God when you met each other? What happened exactly that others can learn from? How did you make the choices to get spiritually unequally yoked together? You might say, “I can’t believe I’m stuck with him or her. How can I get out of this?”

Abigail provides some insight for those in such a relationship. That is, regardless of whether or not your spouse is the person he or she is supposed to be, if you are the person you’re supposed to be, God will work in amazing ways--might be real hard at times, but God’ll work it out for the good. Abigail did what was right even though her husband was a fool. She loyally stood up for him, took responsibility for him, and tried to do everything she could to protect him and others. Had she not done so, she would never have been the bride of the king.

One day, a much greater ruler than David will come to whisk you away into His eternal Kingdom — where you’ll live free from that Nabal dude to whom you’re currently married to. Being Christ’s beautiful Bride is your eternal destiny!

And may He say to you in that day, “Well done. You did what you were supposed to do.” Hey, life here on earth is so short here in comparison to eternity. We’ll live here again and it’ll be new and better, but you’ll never regret doing what is right in this life, believer.

Believer, Abigail is a picture of what you and me are to be...

1.)      We’re now robed in the beauty of God’s holiness -- we are the bride with a beautiful countenance! Yes, like Abigail we’re so blessed. We’ve had good understanding, discernment and insight given to us freely. We are realists that love the truth and seek to protect people. It’s God who gifts us freely with this good understanding (of course we want Him most, and more of what He has to give in order to better serve the Lord.. as His peacemakers).
2.)      Abigail was yoked to misbehaving Nabal. Haven’t we too been yoked with fools before—the fools of our past sinful life and self and with Satan in his kingdom of darkness. She had been stuck with a genuine idiot. Been there, done that. We’ve even been stuck with ourselves -- our old fleshly nature.
3.)      Abigail was barren for a time. She had no children with Nabal. We, too, were spiritually barren. Without the Lord there was no fruit in our lives of eternal importance. We were fruitless.
4.)      Abigail heard the word of impending doom headed in her direction (v. 17). So did we. Jesus, our much Greater than David, talked more about hell than He did about heaven. We’ve got to hear the bad news in order to appreciate the good news of the Gospel. We’ve all sinned and the wages of sin is death. God’s got something much better for you
5.)      Abigail humbled herself before king David (v. 24). That’s what happened with you and me, as well. We chose to. We heard the word of doom and realized our desperate need for a Savior.
6.)      Abigail sought forgiveness (v. 28). Some people think they don’t need to be forgiven. Many think that they have no need of salvation. Like Abigail, however, we know otherwise.
7.)      Abigail believed and was totally persuaded of David’s goodness (v. 28). So too, we say, “Lord, Thou art worthy!”
8.)      Abigail’s request was granted (v. 35). The real issue of salvation is not that we accept the Lord, but that the Lord accepts us. And because He does, we are no longer at war with Him, but we have peace with God through Jesus Christ. We can enjoy peace with God, the peace of God, His incredible peace that passes all understanding -- the God of peace forever (the ultimate Peacemaker).

Men, please act like real men. Die to your own way and ego and do God’s will instead of what your flesh or emotions demand that you do. You’ll be glad you did. Woke ain't really for you, come alive in Christ! Awaken in Him
