Sure, there's a good balance, believer.
As a flawed parent, I've opted to continue in following Christ cuz that's the smartest thing to do. Not in spite of my failures do I follow Him, not despite the circumstances, but because of my many failures do I follow Him -- and because I love the Lord who has had zero failures.
It's wise for any of us to follow and stay close to Him and His family.
CAN WE LEARN FROM THE CONSEQUENCES OF DISHONORING PARENTS? YES.
See EPHESIANS 6:2-3
God commands us to honor our father and mother and promises that a life of respect and obedience brings His favor and blessing.
01. DISHONOR REVEALS A REBELLIOUS HEART INSIDE
Those who reject the authority God placed over them often struggle to surrender to the authority of God Himself.
02. DISHONOR DAMAGES MULTIPLE RELATIONSHIPS
Disrespect, resentment, and contempt can wound the very relationships God designed to nurture and guide us.
03. DISHONOR FORFEITS GOD'S INTENDED BLESSING
God associates honor toward parents with a life that goes well and enjoys His gracious favor.
04. DISHONOR DEVELOPS A PATTERN OF THE WRONG KIND OF PRIDE
A person who refuses parental instruction often rejects wisdom and suffers unnecessary consequences.
05. DISHONOR HURTS AND GRIEVES THE HEART OF GOD
I don't care what your parents did, what you did, what your kids did, what your uncle did, or what your friends did.
I don't even care where you've been.. or who you've been hanging with. You can be changed by God if you want to be.. even if you've tried to change yourself multiple times via sheer willpower and it just didn't work. God can grant you true repentance and saving faith -- He can change you in a nanosecond because of the death of Jesus on the Cross and because of His resurrection. Be born again. #DareToHonorAndBelieveInYourHeavenlyFather
