The tall trees are tall but then when they fall. The water is wet and the desert is dry, but I've also seen a river through the desert sands.
Choose to speak of the beauty of embracing what's completely true and of rejecting what's false. Ive heard that most of what a false teacher teaches is true, but it's a little bit of arsenic that gets ya.
I believe it.
You know there's nothing noble in only believing in lies and trying to refute what's really so (true). Be not Lured in deeper and deeper by the lies. Too many allow that with themselves.. like a moth toeard the flame. It's just lame.
There is a long tradition of writers, philosophers, and Christians beginning with the obvious realities that every person can observe. The Bible itself often reasons this way. Jesus pointed to birds, lilies, seeds, weather, vineyards, sheep, and the rising sun. The writers of Proverbs appealed to ants, trees, rivers, and seasons. Truth often begins with paying attention to what is plainly before our eyes.
Don't become one who only believes in what is false.
Here are some of the most basic observable truths:
The sun rises and sets for us each day...
at the horizon. I'm glad about what orbits around.
Day brings light; night brings darkness.
The moon shines by night.
The stars appear on clear nights.
The sky stretches above us. First Heaven Heaven second heaven third heaven.. where God the father lives.
Grass grows from the earth.
Trees produce fruit according to their kind.
Seeds.. many of them.. become plants.
Water flows downhill.
Fire gives warmth but can also destroy.
Rain nourishes the earth.
Wind is invisible, yet its effects are seen.
Mountains stand firm for generations.
Rivers continue flowing.
Every living thing is born, grows older, and eventually dies.
Time moves only forward, but God lives outside what we call time.
Actions have consequences. Are you living with some hard consequences from past faulty decisions?
Hard work generally produces more than laziness.
Kindness comforts; cruelty wounds. We don't need a daughter-in-law who does the latter.
Truth remains true whether accepted or denied. The truth of the Bible will endure forever no matter what you were I believe.
Lies do not become true with time or by repetition. Hitler believed he could tell a lie long enough until the majority believed it. The gullible payment serious and severe consequences.
Reality does not change because people dislike it, or because they dislike women or their mother.
Beauty can be found throughout creation.
Every human being possesses dignity because people are made in God's image (Genesis 1:26–27). You have value as an image bearer. Jesus Christ would have gone to the Cross and come out of the tomb if it was just one's enough like you or me.
The Bible repeatedly celebrates this love of truth.
"Buy the truth, and do not sell it." — Proverbs 23:23
"You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." — John 8:32
"Love... rejoices with the truth." — 1 Corinthians 13:6
"Test all things; hold fast what is good." — 1 Thessalonians 5:21
There are also poems and classic works that celebrate objective truth:
Ode on a Grecian Urn ends with the famous line, "Beauty is truth, truth beauty..." While the meaning is debated, it has inspired centuries of reflection on truth and beauty.
The Divine Comedy portrays the soul's journey from deception into the light of God's truth.
Paradise Lost repeatedly contrasts truth with the persuasive lies of evil.
Pilgrim's Progress illustrates the Christian life as learning to reject deception and walk in truth.
Your closing thought about moths is a powerful image. It brings to mind both Scripture and nature. Here is an original poem inspired by your idea.
The Plain Things That Are So.. Can Help Us Know And Grow. The Plain Things Are Not The Lame things.
The sky asks no permission to be blue.
The grass does not debate its shade of green.
Morning arrives clothed in light,
and evening gently gathers the shadows.
The sun rises whether praised or ignored.
The moon keeps faithful watch through many nights.
The stars quietly testify
without raising their voices.
Seeds become harvest.
Rivers seek the sea.
Fire gives warmth,
yet warns the careless hand.
Every season keeps its appointed time.
So it is with truth.
Truth does not tremble because it is questioned.
It does not weaken because it is mocked.
It remains what it is,
steady as the mountains,
constant as the dawn.
Lies, however polished,
are only painted mist.
They promise freedom,
yet lead into confusion.
They glitter for a moment,
then vanish with the morning.
Do not chase deception
like a moth racing toward a consuming flame.
The light it loves
is not the light that gives life.
Rather, walk toward the Light
that exposes falsehood
without destroying the one who comes humbly.
Love what is true.
Welcome correction.
Follow reality wherever God has revealed it.
For every truth discovered
is another glimpse
of the wisdom
and faithfulness
of the God who made heaven and earth.
What's not to love with this theme. It harmonizes with Psalm 19:1–4, Psalm 119:160, John 14:6, John 17:17, Romans 1:18–25, and Philippians 4:8, all of which call us to recognize reality as God has made it and to love the truth rather than exchange it for falsehood.
What's to prayerfully study in this respect?
Does absolute truth exist? Yes, Jesus taught that he's the way the truth and the life and no one comes to the father but through him.
Why truth matters.
The logical impossibility of denying absolute truth.
Biblical foundation for objective truth.
Jesus Christ personifies Truth (John 14:6), and he only taught was true.
From there we would continue through:
Absolute truth and logic. They go well together even with science. Real science agrees with the word of God.
Moral relativism and its consequences.
Scientific and conscience evidence for truth.
God's revelation in Scripture. We have old Revelation, we have a Bible. We don't need any new revelation. Illumination of old truth. Sure, that'd be great. New wise applications of old truth. Sure that's so needed.
False doctrine is for us to fully reject.
Essential Christian doctrines versus secondary issues.
How believers with a Bible can recognize and avoid false teachers.
