You can gain new work ideas for a good biz, for an org, for a local church and go forward. Ask God for direction. Are these they same basically? Naw, a church is more a living organism rather than an earthly organization, but here are some principles that can cross over.

Hey biz-person, hotelier, waiter, dishwasher etc. You are special so act that way -- act like a professional. Have an excellent, pristine, beautiful vision that's worthwhile.. a dream for it. Pray earnestly, hear His word, appropriate grace, go back to get the specifics of the direction that. You know the steps, that God wants you to take in fulfillin' this.. yes, in God's will for Him. In it, doing it -- you, being what He wants you to be. He is the Way for you.

No excuses -- think and act like a grown up leader now. You don't have the luxury of excuses (that's the skin of a reason stuffed with a lie).

Rather than concentrate upon the income from your work, concentrate upon the quality service you put out, on the winsome culture there that has brought in the people and that income. Focus on the Lord who exampled serving us.. on caring for people in such a way that meets real needs, and that is convincing cuz it's coming from the heart. It's a good witness -- this excellence.

Why even bother at all, why do it if you can't do it in an excellent way? Let the word shine through you.. in the actions, in the demeanor, in your good character, pure human spirit, and in the attitude too. If it's worth doing, it's worth doin' in an excellent way!

You don't go to work to merely work or due to the feeling it gives you.. you go there to create excellence, to be with your friends (Yes, you make the decision daily that you are happy to see them, show love to them. It doesn't matter where this is if the group, org or company are not destroying lives), and to glorify the Lord. Hey church-worker, opt to reflect His light really bright.

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters. (See Colossians 3:23 and 1 Corinthians 10:31)

Work hard with and for the Lord.. yes do it all in order to bring glory to Him.

Is what you are doing in your respective field.. something of excellence? Want them to be loyal to your biz?

Let it be defect free, something of good quality. Eliminate all defects by finding the root of it. Eliminate slow delivery, lame presentation. Caring, consideration oftentimes in action -- that’s wise service.

Timeliness matters cuz they do. Do you sell bottled water.. or what? Yes, let it be served in a timely fashion. Make them not wait long at all. Everyone wants it now and from someone who is considerate. Be nice to the people. They’ll come back and bring friends

You must convince them to come back. It's on you. Own it. Become the global leader, not just in your town, city, state or nation.

"Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men.." Colossians 3:23

"Show yourself in all respects to be a model of good works, and in your teaching show integrity, dignity.." Titus 2:7 (See whole context)

Use and develop your gifts when you serve cuz a person's gift makes room for them.

"Do you see a man skillful in his work? He will stand before kings; he will not stand before obscure men." Proverbs 22:29

Where, how and why do ya work? What's your inner motive?

Remember this well...

It costs more to go find a new customer, a patron, a guest.. than to keep one. Here are four basic goals for you to have.

1. Don't lose customers, patrons, guests. I mean those people who buy something from us. number one objective.. to keep the guests returning. We do this keeping by doing what the customer wants us to do for them. create customer loyalty. create trust in that company and its products. Seems like some biz-leaders and pastors are trying to drive off people in the name of being direct. Stop that. Tell the truth with grace and love. Timing and tone matter. Please, the next three (below) are not to interfere with number one (above), Mr. or Ms. Biz-Person. And to the churchmen and Christian workers I'd say this: Preach the word with grace and wisdom. Live it out. Don't be harsh with, or hurtful towards, or go driving off God's sheep.. away from Him or from His fellowship. Live it right by God's empowering. Feed the flock well. Don't fleece the flock like false teachers do. People are watching you, how you live and love God and people. Some pastors have told me: Kurt, sheep bite, and some of them bite hard. Well, don't be a striker or one that bites back, Sir.
2. Find new customers, Mr. or Ms. Biz-person.. to help out in the right way. In doing it right, you don't at any time need to do wrong.. to pull this off.
3. Business-person, don't live for money, but serve well, meet the needs of people until they are satisfied. Until they feelin' amped, stoked.. abut you (yeah, excited about your pure commitment first to God and then to what He wants you doing for people), about your good work and excellent product. In the appropriate way gain as much money from the customer when they visit, or when you visit them due to your great work in helping them. If you can do this without wrongdoing, and without losing them to a competitor then be grateful and express this upwards and outwards. Remember, the loyal customer spends more than any of the others. Use the company profits for good and helping more people.
4. Be efficient about this.
Listen, look around, it's not happening with so many companies out there. Companies typically "do what they think they should do for the customer".. "what they want to do for the customer" not what the customer really wants them with the company to do for them (the customer, patron, patient, guest etc).

There are three general things that every customer guest, patron, consumer wants regarding you and your product. So...
1. Let it be defect free -- the so called product you sell. What they get if it's from an org. It matters, the product. ie, The goods, the teaching -- all the way sound, healthy. Uplifting. Of quality. Look for the root cause of the defect and eliminate it. with every elimination you improve your product.
2. Timeliness matters, they, them, you ..want it when you want it. you are more demanding (Time-wise) than anyone before you - we know you. your grandparents can wait 6 minutes, your parents could wait 4 minutes, you wait 20 seconds or you're mad.
3. You want the people working, serving, helping.. to be nice to you in all this, yes, constructive. I mean, that they enthusiastically deliver the product in a caring sort of way. Do you have a process behind real caring that's biblical?
Do you own, or do you serve in a hotel or like at a resort with guests?

Give these three out consistently and then trust comes. We must make wise decisions and earn their trust, their ongoing customer loyalty.

There are individualized expectations regarding your work, certain things that individual's want when they want them. Meet needs in a personalized yet very quality sort of way.

Ask is it right, is it sin for you to do, is it ethical, is it moral, is it legal? Let the Lord lead you. If it's right and helpful, make it happen for them.

I'm mainly talking to those serving in the secular workplace here. Give the guests, patrons, customers, patients these things consistently and then guess what.. trust comes very fast.

Individuals build an opinion about you based upon their relationship with you.

"Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ." Colossians 3:23-24

There's so much technology now, to make sure we care more, to care for the customer faster, better, more and to make sure we have less defects with the product they buy.

Customer service starts the instant that the customer makes contact with you, or you with them. not 3 seconds later.

When they see the sign on the road or web you make contact. good morning, good afternoon you are important to me. It's gaining trust you want to accomplish.. to you and your company. Make that moment excellent. if it rings more than three times customer feels ignored. How about on the telephone? good evening, I'm here for you.. this is Joe how can I help you? I'm glad you asked me or something.. to help you. This is your opportunity to convince them to keep on dealing with you.. coming to you. Seal the deal for ongoing relationship. it's not just your opportunity to do something. My pleasure! Thank you for allowing us to work with you. Glory to God -- so glad.

Comply to the wishes of the customer? Ask is it not illegal immoral unethical not right then do it make it happen.

The product of a bank is service to you in a financial situation.

Warm welcome, comply to helping with the needs of the guest, fond farewell!

Next, yes? when she looked up I knew she hated me. she gave the right amount of change $50.. that was the product.

How the people around you think, act, live and speak in your company matters. This helps to establish in the mind of others.. who you are with your character biz-person (or in Christ, believer).. who they think you are. Be real, let there not be two of you. Authenticity and attitude are so important.

Whether you like it or not you're often defined by the company you work for. you often define yourself to others by the excellence of your company.. and your close friends when off.

HE OR SHE WHO walks with wise men WILL GROW.. WILL BECOME WISE, BUT A COMPANION OF FOOLS WILL SUFFER HARM.. in perhaps more ways than one.

You're not just working or sloughing off (if you're doing that).. you're defining yourself.

What if she to me instead said the next gentleman please. my pleasure (and use my name), here's $50 (including some coins cuz I know you collect coins - personalized, individualized), have a nice day thank you. The product hadn't changed. defect free and timely. the trust and loyalty comes fast.

Remember that technology only helps you make sure that you can do it defect-free faster all the time, while costing as little as possible. High quality matters with this. Consistency is also important.

Now be the leader, not just a manager. So many managers work to maintain the status quo, but leaders take it beyond that to something of excellence. my guess 10% of leaders the rest of managers. managers do things but leaders have a vision, a dream and a lasting noble purpose that includes excellence in what they're doing/producing. do you have any eternal purpose? to a large degree I define myself by what I am, my character ..and what I'm doing and how I'm doing it.

Q: Hey minister, Are you holding meetings and only talking about your feelings all the time? Man, you'll go away feeling worse than when you came. Share your feelings some, but base the meeting on something substantial. The word.

Lead yourself and don't wait for the feeling. don't go to work go to your place of work to produce excellence. are you making wise choices daily? what kind of job are you doing a good job? What company are you with? So much of your life span is spent at work.

Do you have a dream about what you and your maker in his will for you.. can accomplish together?

have you seen something beautiful for many? have a purpose and help give other people purpose. show them that the excellence you're after will be good for all concerned.

Ask yourself is this dream good for all concerned? Go for it, that's what being a real leader is about. The excellence has to include.. does the customer, guest patron, congregant feel great  about your Maker and you in that order ..and what you together do?

If the customer doesn't feel great about you and what you do.. you're in trouble in your line of work. They must be convinced that you authentically care for them.

Select the right helpers and employees and align them with the principles of the word regarding thinking being living and work.

Ask all of them in the crowd to point North and watch their fingers going all kinds of different directions. That's how most companies function. Align them to true North. Churches, organizations and companies need to be aligned to a vision of Truth, to the best Noble plan, to a beautiful dream of future reality.

Don't wait for others to have a purpose. I'm going towards what's good, what's truly excellent,  and bringing as many as I can with me.. and not to lose a single guest along the way. but my end goal is to be with Christ and I don't want any to impede me from my goal. It starts with a vision, with a dream of excellence, with the best practical implementation, the steps towards the end goal. Leaders see excellence down the road.

With every rower rowing supporting the good vision that you have articulately and clearly given to them.

here is the dream join me. we go to the place of work to roll up our sleeves and create excellence that glorifies God by helping other people.. and to be with our friends that have that same purpose. The decision I make, we can make. it's not the feeling I wait for, it is the decision I make.

On a personal level. I've been married to Liney for 39 years come this August 14th, 2021. She is awesome and deserves many THANK YOUS. She has put up with me a long time now, and we both try our best appropriating God's grace and love. I don't just love her, I'm in love with her, more so now even.. i chose to be in this! God gave us this love from above. Yes, for Him and each other. We love God most, and then love each other. I of course have strong feelings for God still (was twice born, was regenerated in '77) and for her in this marriage too. What a blessing she is. This is the decision of love that I made in '82, that I still make daily.. God being our helper. And he does help us. God, use us in our work to show your love to others in a fitting excellent way. In Jesus' name. Amen.

You know feelings can be fickle at times.. in many relationships. Sure, they can be. Trust the Lord more. The feelings can change a bit. They can come or go on certain days, but God has made a decision to love you, regardless of feelings, regardless of you coming or going. God gives love when people run out of love. Seems like many say they do these days. He, Christ, has a bride (the church) that he feels passionate about too. But he is committed to her for eternity. Let's put on the mind of Christ, let's think, speak and consistently act like him in love.

God in love the Father is working, the Spirit in love.. is working in the world, and Christ too. He loves you. The Bible says...

"But Jesus answered them, 'My Father has been working until now [He has never ceased working], and I too am working.'" John 5:17 amp

(Personally, I've pastored for several years in three mega churches with over 11,00 active, but have also done a lot of work in upscale hotels.. starting when I was in college. I like working in or with both and still teach when doing hotel work. Was privileged to learn a few things from some of the best pastors and from some lost and saved hoteliers. God, help us be decent reps, good witnesses even in our work for your glory! I'm still a learner.)

Q: Do you have a good work ethic? Choose now.. to have one that's biblical. Don't wait for the feelings before you go to work and don't work too much. Take time to wait on the Lord, to enter His rest to sit at his feet and listen to his word.

You might have friends that are getting a divorce saying they "just don't feel it anymore."  That's stupid. "We just fell in and then out of the feeling." Who is controlling you the feeling, the lack of a feeling? do you have self control? Does the Holy Spirit have you and control you cuz you've asked and allowed him to?

It's the decision I've made, I make daily, I don't wait for the feeling to show up. So much of the time the feeling is there but I don't wait for it. husbands we are there to serve and help our wives regardless of how we feel.

Do you think that Jesus the bridegroom felt like going to the cross when he had his bride in mind? He was ready to sacrifice himself for her sake and he did.. when sinful men like me put him up there on that tree.

Remember these things. Remember God's word to wisely apply. Not just apply.

Vision, commitment to the vision, refocusing on the vision given by Him.. like on the practical implementation.. the specific steps towards that vision. Almost everyone breaks down at times, but forgive them, and you, but we all need to get back up.

What is the real meaning of Proverbs 29:18? I say get your vision aka dream from God and from time to time go back to him for the action-plan details. I mean the specifics on how the Lord wants you to complete the work to glorify God the Father.

No time for excuses, spiritual compromise, distractions, bitterness, revenge, unforgiveness, or getting sidetracked with other junk. You have forfeited the right to make excuses. if you go face down in the mud get back up and brush yourself off get walking in the way.

Show your love to God first in biblical worship. But if you don't lead your people by example, if you don't lead them towards caring for the customer, the guest the patron, the congregant.. the real sheep so to speak.. then you are letting yourself and your company or organization down. Repent.

I want at least 90% saying I want to come back due to what they consistently receive that meets a real need and is substantial. I want to come back and recommend the Lord, and to recommend you to my friends and foes. that's the minimum 90%, and even with that I'm going to intercede for the people.

Do you let the Lord add and subtract, Kurt? Sure, I want to let the Lord be the Lord but not letting the subtraction come because of me and my lame work or that of my team that somehow got distracted away from the vision and wise steps given.

Choose to turn, to trust, to come to Jesus today. Not to me. Join yourself to him, don't delay. Right now is good just as you are.

God is light, now it's time for you to reflect his light. “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven." Matthew 5:14-16,

"Want a good name? Good, how badly? Know well all their expectations early as best you can, and keep all your promises to each one. None of us can always live it like we should, but God can enable us to do it right, so pray with intimacy. Always be early or on time if it's not yet the morning hours. God does that for us with no partiality. With grace completely close the circle of follow-up with each individual. Face to face inquires help. Bespoke service calls for us customizing the no-defect-delivery. If there have been before, be aware of the defect-root. Live appropriate and quickly get back to each individual. Sure, be yourself but also as through  as the Swiss with your own fashion of excellence. There are ways to find out if the one served is one hundred percent satisfied thus far and at the end. Find out if new needs, fears, wants, or potential concerns have arisen. Warm-hearted hospitality is exhilarating!  With excellence this remains our aim -- it's been that way for decades and it’s too late to change now. This profession is team-sport so to speak, it’s a thrilling adventure, a wonderful experience and can become an art form of sorts, an upbeat lifestyle of creative vigor that I still plan on perfecting as best I can!  Light the fire and relight it. On duty or off let's serve, not as some workaholic bowing before a lame idol. There’s always room for growth in this. Nothing seems to extinguish that deep desire for life or learning in this arena that the greatest King chose to do. I say win them, re-win them, and re-win them over again by helping. The word 'minister' means servant it's who I am to be. What a privilege this is--what an honor it is to show honor, to serve humans and win them in any situation of life!" ~ Kurt W.v.S.

Hotelier -- this is a person who owns, manages, or better yet.. it's one who with genuine hospitality in their heart serves by leading with excellence in a hotel. Is this you? Do it well, to the praise and the glory of the Lord!
