When Truth Falls On Deaf Ears As It Sadly Does Sometimes -- This Can Happen, But Don't Take It Personal.

It's Christ in you that many of them have the problem with, not with you per se, but purpose to live free from all hypocrisy by God's power. Be consistent.

I'm not calling anyone a name. Can valuable people be and act like spiritual dogs or swine? Let's not be or think like em.

Story from a surf trip down south: Ever come across a whale's skeleton on a remote beach far away? I have. Ever seen a beach fisher catch a shark in shallow water, or seen a lifeless shark tangled up in a net on the beach?

People gather around, and some are hoping it’s still alive. A brave soul pulls out a knife and gets to work in cutting it free.

Then—without warning—that shark surges into motion and back to life, turning on its rescuer, teeth sinking into the very arm that sought to save it.

Man, that’s how some people respond when they are lovingly confronted with the truth about salvation and God's only Way regarding that (Jesus is His only way for you).

Okay, so some of them aren't so lovingly witnessed to as they should be, and some topics are more important than other topics.

Truth matters though, and gospel truth matters gobs!

Like that beached shark, it looks so bound up, so dead, so stuck, so hopeless, or even desperate—until you step in to help them out. Then, instead of showing you gratitude, they lash out at you or put you in danger.

Hey, Jesus warned us about this very thing happening:

“Do not give what is holy to dogs; nor cast your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you in pieces.” Jesus in Matthew 7:6

“Do not give that which is holy to dogs, and do not throw your pearls before pigs, for they will trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces. Ask and keep on asking and it will be given to you; seek and keep on seeking and you will find; knock and keep on knocking and the door will be opened to you." Matthew 7:6-7 amp

Some people simply don’t want any truth from anyone today, so sincerely pray for them. Maybe God will work in their lives, remove the scales from eyes a.k.a. their spiritual blinders so to speak, and soften their hearts.

They aren’t searching for it today, and if you offer it today, they’ll reject it flat out—not just dismissively, but maybe with some level of hostility. Spiritual “dogs” and spiritual “swine” devalue what is valuable, what is sacred -- treating costly treasures like mere trash.

"It is usually futile to try to talk facts and analysis to people who are enjoying a sense of moral superiority in their ignorance." ~ Thomas Sowell

Ever tried sharing your faith with someone who flat-out refuses to hear it? You think, But truth sets people free right! Well, it can where there is a willingness. That’s true—but only if they’re open to truth and willing to receive it.

Remember when Jesus Himself stood silent before King Herod because He knew Herod wasn’t open to the truth (Luke 23:9).

You Might Meet Three Kinds of People:

Think of sharing truth like approaching a traffic light:

🔴 Red Light Peeps – This person is totally closed today. Maybe not tomorrow if you pray for them. Today they will shut you down, arms crossed, facial countenence with a scowl, heart locked tight. Is that due to fear? Have they met a real hypocrite of a so called believer before. No need to push ever—move on and genuinely pray for them because you really want God's best for them as well.

🟡 Yellow Light Peeps – They’re fairly hesitant but kind of curious too. Handle with care so to speak. They, like all people are very valueable. Listen well. Ask intellengent well timed questions. Find common ground pershaps. Share your own story of faith. You might have an opportunity to plant a seed of truth or even share more and reap them into God's Kingdom. We prayfully influence others, and Jesus is the one who saves. Give people an opportunity to come to Christ here and now, right on the spot if they are open to pray with you. Some will want to hear a little or a lot.. as you share what the Word says. You need to recognize and know. Read the room well. Jesus will lead you step by step.

🟢 Green Light Peeps  They’re open to truth and some of them are eager to hear it all. Yes, even from you (if you're a total stranger, aqaintence, co-worker, fellow student or friend). Their heart is softer and ready to hear truth. Listen well -- hear their hear and mind, and ask some smart so-called diagnositic questions perhaps. Prayerfully engage in honest, sincere, and meaningful conversation -- share the gospel freely.

Biblical Discernment Is Key

Some people will reject the truth today, but maybe they'll be open tomorrow? Our job isn’t to know it all or to force our beliefs on anyone, but to live "the life" (clean, forgiven, righteous, not self-righteous..) in really close fellowship with God. It's to live in a 24/7 obedient relationship with the Lord Jesus walking daily in wisdom (not all worldly with worldly wisdom). Pray the price for them, do you really think your own mind alone can set them free from their bondage? Live out our faith before them, and speak when the time is right. Stay silent with the time is right. Truth isn’t meant to be wasted where it isn’t wanted, and God will have no one in his holy heaven who really doesn't want truth.. or doesn't want to be there with him.

Let's prayerfully segway on over into gospel conversations with those who are open to truth and hungry for what is real.

"But in your hearts set Christ apart as holy—acknowledging Him, giving Him first place in your lives as Lord. Always be ready to give a logical defense to anyone who asks you to account for the hope and confident assurance elicited by faith that is within you, yet do it with gentleness and respect." 1 Peter 3:15 amp (see those 3 words at the end, important!)

The Apostle Peter urges us to give other (red, yellow and green light type of) people a reason to ask about our hope in Christ.

We all hear dishonest questions at times, but if we believers really honor Jesus Christ as Lord in our hearts (not merely in theory) first and foremost, the difference it'll make in our lives will indeed prompt others to have honest questions for us to address.

Q: Have you ever started witnessing to a red-light type of person on the street or elsewhere (yes, totally closed-minded to spiritual topics), and there on the spot seen God soften his heart making him into a yellow or green-light person.. and then the Holy Spirit actually used you to lead him to faith in Christ! It can happen. Pray, be spiritually sensitive enough, and discern. You might not need to walk off (kickin' the dust from your flip flops) thinking God will save him way down the road.

Peter envisions the kind of change.. the spiritual regeneration kind of transformation that others will crave—in the best sense of the word.

We want sinners to sense his love, to see Jesus in us (saved sinners walking in victory), and to hear His words through us. They really don't care how much we know until they know how much we care.

"Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit." 2 Corinthians 3:17-18 niv

Believers living under the influence of the Spirit will also treat one another with respect, with honor, with compassion and with humility (v. 8).

They won't return evil for evil when witnessing, or insult for insult, but rather blessings for curses (v. 9).

This difference in our lives as Christians will help others (those red and yellow light people) open themselves up to receiving the best gift they could ever receive. Green light Jesus, I want You and all that you have to give to me.. all that you want to give through me to a hungry, lost and dying world out there.

You know, it's really like one beggar who found steaming hot fresh and free bread.. showing another beggar exactly where to find it

“For the bread of God is that which comes down out of heaven, and gives life to the world.” John 6:33

“I am the bread of life” ~ Jesus (v. 5).

Pearls, Swine, and the Wisdom of Discernment

“Do not cast your pearls before swine” is one of Jesus’ most vivid warnings, found in the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 7:6). To grasp its full meaning, we must understand its context. Just before this, Jesus warned against hypocritical judgment:

“Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” — Matthew 7:1–2

“You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.” — Matthew 7:5

Then, in verse 6, Jesus shifts from condemning self-righteous judgment to emphasizing godly discernment. While we are not to judge others unfairly, we must recognize when people are unreceptive to truth.

Who Are the Swine and Dogs?

Jesus pairs swine with another familiar image:

“Do not give dogs what is sacred.” — Matthew 7:6

In biblical times, dogs were not beloved pets; they were wild scavengers. Proverbs 26:11 paints the picture:

“As a dog returns to its vomit, so a fool repeats his folly.”

Similarly, 2 Peter 2:22 describes false teachers:

“A dog returns to its vomit, and a sow that is washed goes back to her wallowing in the mud.”

Jesus uses dogs and pigs as metaphors for those who mock, reject, or blaspheme the gospel. Sharing Christ with a hardened heart—one that has no intention of receiving truth—is like tossing pearls into the mud. The pearls are precious, but the pigs trample them underfoot.

Preach Boldly, but Know When to Move On

This command does not mean we stop preaching the gospel. Jesus Himself dined with sinners and tax collectors (Matthew 9:10). However, there’s a difference between someone who is lost but searching and someone who is hostile to the truth.

When Jesus sent out His disciples, He gave a similar instruction:

“If anyone will not welcome you or listen to your words, shake the dust off your feet when you leave that home or town.” — Matthew 10:14

We are called to share the gospel, but we are not responsible for how people respond. Some will treasure the truth; others will scorn it. If someone mocks and resists, we move on—because somewhere else, there’s a heart that is ready to hear.

Jesus wasn't pushy. He didn’t pressure, manipulate, or force the truth on Herod (Luke 23:9), and neither should we with people like him. Discernment is a gift from God (See 1 Corinthians 2:15–16). The Spirit helps us recognize when to speak, when to wait a bit, when to listen, and when to remain silent.

Sow In All Seasons, Where The Soil Has Been Prepared, Tilled And Is Now Ready

  • Psalm 65:10: Read the context cuz it describes rain drenching the plowed ground, melting the hard clods, and leveling rough ridges
  • Galatians 5:22-23Describes the Holy Spirit preparing the soil in one's heart to plant seeds of righteousness
  • Jeremiah 4:3Describes how the living Word breaks up unplowed ground and is not sowing His seeds among all the thorns

Not everyone will appreciate the priceless gift of the gospel. Some will scoff or mock. Some will resist. But others—somewhere you go—are longing for the truth of the gospel. We are called to plant seeds, to water them, to smartly tend, and to trust God for the harvest (1 Corinthians 3:6–7).

Preach the word boldly. Love deeply. And when someone tramples upon the truth you shared, don’t take it all personal, or waste your breath. There are others who are open, green light and ready—go find them.

  • Tilling the soil represents God preparing a person's heart and mind to receive the truth of God's word.
  • The soil represents the human heart, which includes the will, mindset, and purpose
  • The seed represents the word of God
  • The harvest represents the fruit of living a fruitful life

Jesus saves, we can't do that or even close to that. And we don't waste time try to reform sinners .."Hey dude, put down those 15 beers and start walking right to please God".. no cuz (without Christ living inside of them they might just quickly find another idol to worship and live for).

Pearls, Spiritual Dogs And Swine And the Wisdom of Discernment Needed

“Do not cast your pearls before swine” -- those words are about a warning from Jesus. A most vivid warning, found in the Sermon on the Mount (See Matthew 7:6). To grasp its full meaning, pray cuz He is able to explain it to you. We must understand its important context. You can be fruit inspectors, you can wisely evaluate the facts, but don't cast the final judgment cuz you can't see their heart like God can.

Yes, just before this text, Jesus warned against hypocritical judgment:

“Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” Matthew 7:1–2

“You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.” Matthew 7:5

Then, in verse 6, Jesus shifts from the topic of condemning self-righteous judgment to emphasizing godly discernment. We need that. While we are not to judge others hearts or misjudge their spiritual condition unfairly, we must recognize when people are unreceptive (red light, not open) to truth.

Who Are the Swine and Dogs?

Jesus pairs swine with another familiar image:

“Do not give dogs what is sacred.” — Jesus, Matthew 7:6

In biblical times, dogs were not so many of them.. beloved pets; but they were wild scavengers. Therefore Proverbs 26:11 paints the picture:

“As a dog returns to its vomit, so a fool repeats his folly.”

Similarly, 2 Peter 2:22 describes false teachers:

“A dog returns to its vomit, and a sow that is washed goes back to her wallowing in the mud.”

Jesus uses dogs and pigs as metaphors for those who mock, who reject, who scoff at, or who blaspheme the truth of His gospel. Sharing Christ with a hardened heart type of sinner—one that has no intention of receiving his truth—is like tossing valuable pearls into the mud forever. The pearls are precious, but the pigs trample them underfoot cuz they want cheap food, not a necklace or anything that's valuable to wear.

Preach the Word Boldly, but Know When to Move On

This command does not mean we stop preaching the gospel all together. No. Jesus Himself dined with and showed love towards sinners and tax collectors (Matthew 9:10). However, there’s a difference between someone who is lost and open or searching.. and someone who is closed and hostile to the truth.

When Jesus sent out His disciples, He gave a similar instruction:

“If anyone will not welcome you or listen to your words, shake the dust off your feet when you leave that home or town.” — Jesus, Matthew 10:14

We are called to share the gospel tactfully with God's wisdom, but we are not responsible for how people respond to the truth. A witness in a court is to only share what they saw, heard, know and experienced. The judge has a different role.

Some people will treasure the truth; others will scorn it. If someone mocks and resists, we move on—because somewhere else, there’s a heart that is ready to hear.

Jesus didn’t force truth on Herod (Luke 23:9), and neither should we. Ever. Discernment, a gift from God (1 Corinthians 2:15–16), helps us recognize when to speak and when to be silent.

Sow When They Are Open.. Yes, Where the Soil is Ready

Not everyone will appreciate the priceless gift of the gospel. Some will mock. Some will resist. But others—somewhere—are longing for truth. We are called to continue in this.. praying, plant seeds, water them, and trust God for the harvest (1 Corinthians 3:6–7).

When I (Kurt) get a moment free here and there.. I like to recommend what'll help people. Got a fairly good track record with recommending. Yes, I recommend and say why.. I applaud, and advocate / a.k.a. vouch for good stuff and even people doing good stuff.. and I wholeheartedly endorse what's beneficial whole gobs for those I care about. Sure, I recommend the gospel most of all. Yes, knowing Jesus in a personal meaningful way cuz He is knowable. I like to enthusiastically recommend what has blessed by life, as well as un-recommend any bad or hurtful stuff a lot too. You know I unrecommend what's lame, poor quality, horrific.. what's not good at all, WHAT STINKS, or not even slightly good for people. Think about it some. We all have our opinions given to us on so many things and our friends and loved ones also recommend good stuff to us often.. all week long. I hear recommendations in the media a lot and need to be careful with all that. An opinion might be worth only a dime or so.. or far more. Test it, kick that tire, check it out, go prove and see. Go with the Word overall. Yeah, let's all recommend none more than Christ.

"But test all things carefully so you can recognize what is good. Hold firmly to that which is good." 1 Thessalonians 5:21 amp

Preach Jesus boldly--every chapter of every book in the Bible points to Christ our ultimate solution for sin. Love deeply. And when someone tramples on you or the truth, don’t waste your breath there. Move on with grace. There are others who are ready—go find them and build a relationship in God kind of way. Lvoe is spelled TIME.

Our role is to listen well, know the word already, to discern accurately, to proceed tenderly with those who.. WOW, they just took their hand's palm down out of our faces and are now they are somehow open to truth (all green light) with perhaps a few good questions.

Our role is to plant some seeds of faith from the word, to water, to tend and nurture, to continue to pray, and to trust the Lord to respond bringing in the harvest. (Read some more..)

Choose to act and think like the wise Bereans did. Stick with the Lord and His Scriptures -- stay safe doctrinally and help keep others safe too.

Q: Got some crazy sources you listen to with say.. their YouTube videos? I say get back to reality please, and ditch them. There are way too many good tutorial types of YouTube videos that you won't waste your time with. Be discerning for your sake and the sake of those who love you.

There are so, So, SO many sources out there these days, and some of them are just dangerous. Some people earn the right to be heard, and others do not.

During these times when some people think everything "on the interwebs" is 100% true, you and I need to be more careful. Don't just take my words for it, please check Kurt's words (me) out against what the Bible teaches as well. I pray I won't let anyone down, and go off away from God or His Bible.

Deep calls unto deep and God lovingly responds. He answers every pray we pray...

..with a Yes, a No, or a Wait.

If he says No or Wait.. does He have something better for you?

After prayer (say a desperate cry to our strong, kind, dependable God who hears, feels and clearly sees) there is sometimes a waiting period, but there is a perfect time for our loving God to act. He saw, he heard, he knew - always does (see the verses below).

Let's all pray and consistently live red hot on-fire for Christ.

Jesus's life was one led from one place of prayer to the next and what kept happened in between? Teaching, caring, hearing, feeding, and miracles did.

"The more you study the life of Jesus, the more you will be impressed with His absolute, genuine love for people." ~ Chuck Swindoll

Q: Is your prayer life like a thermostat or a thermometer? (I've got some points and a quote from
Hance Dilbeck. The men visited with Him this morning in Plano).

"We all are desperate really. If you're not desperate for God then you are deluded." ~ Hance Dilbeck

The Israelites had really suffered (Gen. 15:13,14) and become desperate in their need. God was mercifully giving that king room for course-corection in repentance, while the Lord was hating their bondage in grievous hard forced labor.

Exodus 2:23 - "Years passed, and the king of Egypt died. But the Israelites continued to groan under their burden of slavery. They cried out for help, and their cry rose up to God.
24 God heard their groaning, and he remembered his covenant promise to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
25 He looked down on the people of Israel and knew it was time to act."

Into Egpyt went the Jews for a time. Not to remain there forever no no. They survived the famine as God gave them food there, but circumstances changed, got bad, so they prayed and God led them out. God wants to lead you by His Holy Spirit living within you. God the Father wants Jesus to be Lord of all..and He can be today! Come to Him on His terms.

It's a relational thang bro! Prayer is God's appointed way to give His children all the things we need. Yes, we all should pray because prayer is God's appointed way for us to obtain the things we now or later will need. That is not the only reason we pray though. We should pray because prayer is God's appointed way of obtaining things.. even for others in need. We all need this close righteous relationship with Jesus the most, and then need some stuff to go serve Him well. Some need His healing, restoration, comfort, or say deliverance from a certain bad habit -- so we earnestly pray to Him for what we need..for what our loved ones need. We believers want Him most! We want Him more than all His blessings put together. He is our best Blessing and we want others to have God's best blessing too. We were blessed to be a blessing for them. Most of all we long to know Him well.. to walk with, to talk with, and to be used of Him. We want to see others used of Him so we pray for them. We want God to daily make us a blessing for others. We want to bring others Home with us one day, and only He can save people. You and I can't do that. Contrary to popular TV preaching.. God will allow some hardships, some tragedies, some challenges, some sufferings, some needs to come our way.. so that he can reveal himself and His will to us. So that he can meet our needs. It's cuz he wants us blessed and wants to make us a blessing for others. Talk about JOY! Never forget that. When God blesses you He has some other people in mind as well. That's what His Great Commission and the top two greatest Commandments are all about! We worship before we work--it's always to come before. He loves when we take time away in His word to listen to Him, to take heed to Him, to pray to Him, and to simply be with Him.

Bernard of Clairvaux said, There are those who seek knowledge for the sake of knowledge; that is Curiosity. There are those who seek knowledge to be known by others; that is Vanity. There are those who seek knowledge in order to serve; that is Love. Deep calls to deep!

"I have ascended to the highest in me, and look, the Word is towering above that. I have descended to explore my lowest depths, and I found Him deeper still." ~ Bernard of Clairvaux

“Deep calls to deep in the roar of your waterfalls; all your waves and breakers have swept over me..” Psalm 42:7

In typically beautiful poetry, the Psalm expresses a cry from the heart of God’s people during "a time of trouble."

We recognize that human needs here are great, but the riches of God are always greater. Our wisdom is shallow, but His knowledge and judgments are unsearchable (Romans 11:33–34). God’s thoughts are deep (Psalm 92:5). His love is as deep as His immense heart (Ephesians 3:18–19), as He proved when He gave His only begotten Son to die for us (John 3:16). The height, breadth, and depth of God’s resources are without measure. From the depth of his despair, the psalmist found help in the depth of God’s goodness, and he was able to say in conclusion, “Why am I discouraged? Why is my heart so sad? I will put my hope in God! I will praise him again—my Savior and my God!” (Psalm 42:11, NLT).

But deep calls to deep, a deep of light to a deep of darkness, a deep of mercy to a deep of misery (see Psalm 41:8). The human heart is deep and inscrutable, but if my iniquity is great, Lord, much greater is your loving-kindness! Therefore when my soul is troubled within me, I remember the abundance of your mercy and I am refreshed by it, and when I enter into my own power I will not call to mind your justice only (see Psalm 6:4, 70:16 105:7; John 12:27). When you experience spiritual timidity, meditate on the fact that God’s loving-kindness and mercy is greater than any sin of ours. Christ on the cross bore our sins in his body and “by his wounds you have been healed. ~ Bernard of Clairvaux

Remember.. before the Exodus from Egypt led by Moses, there was a time of waiting with preparation.

Moses had received a splendid education (see Acts 7:22), but he was lacking in biblical faith. He fought the wrong enemy at the wrong time with the wrong weapon.

Man, when you start to look around and ask yourself "Is it safe?" and not "Is it right?" you are not praying and have stopped living by faith. When you do pray remember...

Sometimes the Lord says no.
Sometimes the Lord says go.
Sometimes the Lord says slow and
Sometimes the Lord says grow.

Sometimes God has to "set us aside" (like he did with his leader Mo) to teach us what we need to know and to help us learn to pray effectively. It teaches us to forget the ways the world does things. Moses' impulsive deed sent him to the back side of the desert for forty years, just as his impulsive words would keep him out of the Promised Land (Num. 20:9-13). An impatient spirit is a dangerous thing, but a person praying biblically will be used mightily.

Moses spent 40 years in Pharaoh's Court learning that he was a somebody. (Prayer?) And then 40 years on the back side of the desert learning that he was a nobody (Prayer?), and then another 40 years in God's presence learning to pray and what the Lord could do with a somebody who realized that he was a nobody.

After praying—you know with our desperate cry to a strong, kind, and ever-faithful God—there is often a waiting period. Yet, in His perfect wisdom, God never delays; He moves precisely when the time is right. He sees, He hears, and He knows—always. He passes up a lot of opportunities to be early but he's never late!

In Exodus 2:23-25, the Israelites groaned under the weight of oppression, and their cries reached heaven. God heard. He remembered His covenant. He saw. He knew. And then—at the appointed time—He acted. His silence was never absence, nor was His waiting inaction. His justice, mercy, and deliverance arrived at the perfect moment.

How is your prayer life? Do you set the spiritual climate like a thermostat, steadfast, warm and unwavering? Or do you merely react like a thermometer reading the temperature around you, shifting with the climate and circumstances around you?

True desperation for God is not weakness but has to do with clarity—He aligns us with a reality check. As

If you're not desperate for God, then you are distracted or simply deluded.

If we daily look to God to meet all our needs we can live on fire for the Lord. If we looked him to meet half or some of our needs, we will be lukewarm spiritually. If we don't look to him to meet our knees, we'll be worldly and far from. If you sense that you're far from him, then gets who moved away. You did.

Let each of us pray with fervency and live all ablaze for Christ, trusting in His sovereign timing. He cares. He hears. He sees. He knows. And when the time is right—He acts. He responds.

With Bible verses, many or few, there must be at least one wise application. Certainly! There's one good interpretation and could be multiple applications. Sound hermeneutics teaches this.

So here’s an expanded version with practical applications for a desperate man on how to pray to our Father God in the name of Jesus: Father, you see. Please help me today. In Jesus' name. Never has to be long.

*Desperate Prayer, Perfect Timing

After prayer—our desperate cry to this strong, kind, and ever-faithful God—there is often a waiting period. Not always..a waiting period. Yet, in His perfect wisdom, God never delays too long; He moves precisely when the time is just right. He sees, He hears, and He knows—always.

In Exodus 2:23-25, the Israelites groaned under the weight of oppression -- their cries went up and reached heaven. God heard. He remembered His covenant. He saw. He knew. And then—at the appointed time—He acted. His silence never meant absence, nor was His waiting cuz of passivity, indifference or inaction. His perfect justice, mercy, and deliverance arrived at the perfect moment for the Jews. He'll come through for you too, believer.

But how should a desperate man pray? How should he keep asking, hoping, and trusting while waiting for God’s perfect timing?

1. Cry Out Honestly, candidly, wholeheartedly, sincerely..
Jesus invites us to come as we are. Lay your burdens before God without pretense. Whether your words are raw or refined, He hears the desperate cry of a broken heart.

Lord, if it's not a wise application of your word (from a certain passage) then we really don't want it, because there have already been way too many foolish applications done from well-meaning people and yet that's simply a bad witness to those of this watching world.

“Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you” (1 Peter 5:7).

*Application: Speak honestly, directly to God (he's there with you) and out loud if possible. Kneel and ask reverently, respectfully, expectantly. Weep if it's needed. Not forever. Say something like, "Father, I love You and yet don’t have the strength to get this done your way.. but You do."

2. Pray the Scriptures
God’s Word is truly alive, and praying His promises strengthens faith inside of you. The Psalms are filled with the honest cries of desperate people.

“In my distress, I called to the Lord; I cried to my God for help. From his temple, he heard my voice” (Psalm 18:6).

*Application: Open your Bible to the Psalms, to Isaiah, or to the Gospels. Carefully read through a passage aloud and personalize it as a prayer. It never hurts to let your own ears hear the truth your mouth is saying. Example:

I loved you Jesus -- you've been so good to me. "Lord, You say You are my refuge and strength (see Psalm 46:1). Right now, I feel so weak and need You to be that for me."

3. Pray in Jesus' Name with Confidence
Jesus gave us access to the Father. Praying in His name isn’t just a phrase—it’s standing in the authority of Christ.

“Until now, you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full” (John 16:24).

You have not (what you need right now) because you asked not..simple as that.

"You desire but do not have, so you kill. You covet but you cannot get what you want, so you quarrel and fight. You do not have because you do not ask God. When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures." James 4:2-3 niv

*Application: End your casual conversational prayers with confidence and listening. Does a verse or passage come to mind?:

“Father God, I ask this in Jesus’ mighty name, trusting in You and Your perfect will. Grateful!”

4. Listen in Stillness
Prayer is a simple two-way conversation. After pouring out your heart, take time to be silent before Him.

I often want God to be louder. I need to pause to hear the still small voice.

“Be still, and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10).

*Application: Find a quiet place. Breathe deeply. Sit in silence for a few minutes, simply being aware of His presence.

5. Keep Praying, Even When It Feels Useless
Jesus taught persistence in prayer (Luke 18:1-8). Even when nothing seems to change, every prayer moves heaven.

“The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective” (See James 5:16 and the context).

*Application: Set a daily time to pray, no matter how you feel. Keep a journal and write down your requests. Look back later to see how God answered.

6. Pray with Others
There is power in united prayer. Jesus said,

“Where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them” (Matthew 18:20).

*Application: Find a trusted brother in Christ. Call, meet, or text them for some prayer. If you’re truly desperate, don’t isolate yourself— be reasonable and reach out.

Even the lone ranger have Tonto.

7. Praise Him in Advance
Thanking God before seeing the answer is an act of faith.

“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances” (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18).

*Application: Every day, thank God for His faithfulness—even before you see results.

Say, “Lord, I trust You, and I thank You that You are already working.”

Is Your Prayer Life like a Thermostat or a Thermometer? Is your spiritual temperature red hot for Jesus (as you need it to be), or lukewarm, or icy cold?

What's the Hebrew word translated here as “deep”? This refers to the deepest of depths in the sea. The sons of Korah exiled with David had lost all footing because they arrogantly rebelled, and they felt as if recurring waves of trouble had plunged their souls into bottomless seas of sorrow and despair. The prophet Jonah used similar language to describe his deep predicament after God’s discipline in his life: “You hurled me into the depths, into the very heart of the seas, and the currents swirled about me; all your waves and breakers swept over me” (Jonah 2:3).

But there’s another interpretation of this word "deep" in Psalm 42. The songwriter expressed the fact that his soul was in deep DEEP NEED of God. The psalmist calls out from his own depths of profound longing and need for the unfathomable greatness of God. A deep need calls for a deep remedy.

Clairvaux resonates with this - he also wrote explaining deep calling unto deep:

"Oh God, deep calls unto deep....
..The deep of my profound
misery
calling out to
the deep of
Your infinite mercy.."

Yes, Clairvaux assures us, "deep misery crying out to the deep of an infinitely Merciful God."

There is one merciful God and He can handle the pain, frustration, the anxiety, the lack, the brokenness...and can address/heal all of it!

..who can handle years of injustice here....and can bring justice!

..who knows what it feels like to be innocently hurt, wounded, slaughtered...and still forgive!

..who hurts with the same kind of hurt inside that we feel...and can solace or carry the crushed in spirit.

Because He is a God of Mercy, He gets it. Always!

We all want change both inside and outside. That's why we pray and believe.

There is only one way we can get everlasting change.. it's via the holy reverential fear, repentance, biblical worship of God -- saving faith.. in Jesus.

It's via in obedient surrender to this God of Mercy.

A God who loves deeply with real empathy.

This God who shows up with compassion.

I'm not sure if you're hurting today but when our hearts of misery meet with Christ's depth of mercy, It will be addressed adequately.. we will be changed...

We will grow and be "transformed" into his image.

Think Right And Verify. Many People Are Delusional These Days, But Soon There Is Coming A Far More Severe Delusion. This Is What People Will Get When Truth Is Rejected.

Too many people wake up believing and acting upon fake news. Man, it would be easy to do since there's so much of it out there.

If you wake up with no mental illness each day, yes, have a properly working brain to pray with, to praise the Lord with, and to reason with, then thank the Lord with amped enthusiasm! What a gift to use for His glory!

We are fast approaching the days the Bible warns about—a time of great deception, a world plunged into real delusion because it has rejected truth. All truth is God's truth and so many people say NO to Him and to truth. The seven-years of Tribulation looms, and as it draws nearer to us, the lies darkening human hearts will only grow stronger. The delusions will become more severe in these last days.

Think about this. Researchers in Texas have recently discovered that one candle out in the darkness can be seen from a distance of 1.6 miles away. Small lights can pierce the darkest of nights. The darker our culture gets around us, the more effective our light can be as we reflect/shine for Christ. Via a close personal relationship with the Lord, God the Father can use you to reflect His light. He can help you and me to see things as they really are, to be praying as realists who reflect His light more brightly. No matter what we do professionally, it’s how we see things as they really are that's important. As we see things that are actually happening around us -- we want to know the facts accurately as much as we can. God knows them.

This is related to how we share His Gospel Message too, and His love that will bring others to a saving faith that will stand as a testimony for all eternity.

"It is better to light a candle than to curse the darkness." ~ Eleanor Roosevelt

Do you merely curse the darkness? Is that all you do? Why? Sadly, we Christians can be more known for what we are against than what we are for? What are you for? Will you talk about it too?

I am for people -- I want what is best for the people I meet. I am against what will destroy me.. or other people. I am for what will really help people.

I am for healthy food, for exercise, for stand-up paddle boarding on the seas and lakes, but more so.. I live for the Lord and am for people of every nation coming to know His forgiveness (with saving faith) as soon as possible.

Regarding a candle to light in a dark place, Eleanor was basically signifying that instead of complaining about a really lame negative situation, it's more productive to think right about it and then take positive action to address the situation, even if the good action steps seem kind of small.. to make a great difference in this world. Some things need to be said for us to start thinking and acting right. We all need to be reminded of good stuff.

In the last days, the Bible makes it plain: God is the one who will send a severe and strong delusion to those who refuse to love the truth.

Paul warns, “They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. For this reason, God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie” (2 Thessalonians 2:10-11). This is not a random act of judgment but the natural consequence of the persistent rejection of His direct and delegated authority .. and of His authoritative truth. When people harden their hearts against God, He eventually gives them over to the deception they crave. They'll believe anything that comes down the pike.

Would Your Friends Or Family Members Say You Are Of Sound Mind And Clinging To the Truth, Or Off In Left Field?

God Calls You And Me To Get A Grasp. To Daily Utilize Sound Thinking For His Glory: Loving The Truth And Rejecting All Deception!

The Apostle Paul reminds believers "to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands. For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control." 2 Timothy 1:6

"For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind." (v.7)

What does the Bible teach us? "Then that lawless one will be revealed whom the Lord will slay with the breath of His mouth and bring to an end by the appearance of His coming; that is, the one whose coming is in accord with the activity of Satan, with all power and signs and false wonders, and with all the deception of wickedness for those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth so as to be saved. For this reason God will send upon them a deluding influence so that they will believe what is false, in order that they all may be judged who did not believe the truth, but took pleasure in wickedness." (2 Thessalonians 2:11–12)

Truth Rejected, Minds Then Darkened. SAD!
This is nothing new really. Every time a person hears the gospel but refuses to believe this Message, their heart grows harder. Even in churches this happens, some sit under the preaching of God’s Word week after week, yet remain unmoved. The more they resist, the more calloused they become inside. And as we near the end, we are seeing this on a global scale in several nations. The world is slipping further away into confusion, into deceptions—denying the most basic of realities. Are you a man, woman, boy, girl or animal?

A man today insists he was born in the wrong body. A woman claims to be an animal. People demand that their delusions be respected and accepted as fact. Be what you want -- you are a free moral agent, but you will not go off into eternity with me remaining quiet. I will pray and say.

The world calls all of this nonsense progress, but it is proof of a reprobate mind abandoned to deception. This isn’t just psychological or social; it is spiritual blindness at its core. When people refuse the truth, they don’t stay neutral. They become vulnerable to any lie that suits their desires.

Paul described
a reprobate perfectly: “Although they knew God, they neither glorified Him nor gave thanks to Him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools” (Romans 1:21-22). Rejecting truth doesn’t really make one free at all—it makes one foolish.

Reprobate thinking is rejected by God due to a person's persistent sin and rejection of His Bible truth. It is corrupt, morally worthless and the reprobate becomes incapable of godly living and righteousness. The person needs to repent and be born again. Those with a reprobate mind might know of God but they deliberately choose sin, justifying and embracing wickedness. They are then abandoned to their own depravity. True Christians, transformed by Christ, cannot have and maintain a reprobate mind because they are made new and guided by the Holy Spirit who lives within.

The phrase “reprobate mind” is found in Romans 1:28. This is in reference to those whom God has rejected as godless and wicked. They “suppress the truth by their wickedness,” and it is upon these people that the wrath of God rests (Romans 1:18). The Greek word translated “reprobate” in the New Testament is adokimos, which means literally “unapproved, that is, rejected; by implication, worthless (literally or morally).” How did Paul in the Bible describe those two men named Jannes and Jambres? He described them as those who “resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith" (2 Timothy 3:8). Here the reprobation is regarding that typical resistance to the truth.

God Hands Them Over
People can only rebel and resist for so long and then there are consequences. The frightening reality is that God eventually gives people what they push for and want. He won't make you live with Him in heaven for eternity -- he will have none there unhappy to be there.

Those who despise the truth will be handed over to deception. Paul writes, “God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do what ought not to be done” (Romans 1:28). They not only practice evil, but they celebrate it, savor it, and encourage others to do the same (Romans 1:32).

Isaiah spoke of this rebellion long ago: “They have chosen their own ways, and their souls delight in their abominations; so I also will choose harsh treatment for them and bring upon them what they dread” (Isaiah 66:3-4). This is the terrifying justice of God: when truth is hated and put aside.. deception is embraced.

God’s Desire vs. Man’s Choice
Yet, God is not cruel. He does not delight in condemning anyone. He has been very patient, “not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance” (2 Peter 3:9). But He will not force Himself upon those who reject Him. He will show respect to you and your choices. If people insist on wandering, God will let them go (See Jeremiah 14:10). And when they do, deception tightens its icky-creepy grip until they are utterly lost.

There is no more dangerous position than to know the truth and then refuse to obey it. To do so is to invite judgment, to trade light for darkness, and to be left defenseless against the lies of the enemy leading toward God's judgment. Listen, you don't want to know His wrath. The question is not whether God is loving. The question is: Will you choose regardless of your feelings to love Him and the truth?

The time is short. Choose life -- Choose Jesus Christ, please. Walk wisely with a sound mind. How many drinks have you sucked down.. how many shots have you received? Were they all good for you? Not all keep their minds. Many drinkers get dementia.

Do you ever say some (not all) controversial stuff at times that you think might help somebody? I do.

Some of what I'm about to say might offend you. That’s really not my aim. I am standing on what the Scripture clearly says though, and that's where I get these opinions to help people.

On each issue that you and I encounter in this ever-changing culture these days, we need to ask: What does God in the Bible have to say about this?.. cuz I need to think soundly in order to act soundly instead of acting stupidly.

Q: Should a Christian show respect toward all people and have gay friends too? How can you be used of God to win people to Christ if you don't befriend them? He died for them and for you.

Qs: What does the Bible say about the family?.. and about God's family? What is a family really? What isn't a family? What is the smart place of sex?.. I say in a straight marriage. Have you married in the will of God according to God in the Bible.. or according to what you want the Bible to mean? Sound hermeneutics will give you the one real interpretation for wise applications. What about sex before marriage? Nope ..please don't do that. This sin hurts God's heart and has consequences -- every sin is ultimately against God.

The University of Oregon did a study among young men and found that those who engage in premarital sexual relationships do make very poor marital risks for others.

But Kurt, couples today are learned saying: "Of course, we'll just live together for a while sort of like a test drive before you buy the car. You know, and enjoy the benefits -- I mean, friends with benefits?"

Neither of you are cars though. Duh!

Hey that's not a trial marriage. That's basically a trial divorce because careful studies have been done and have revealed that those who live together before marriage have a far higher divorce rate than those who don't live together first. God has set things up the way they are supposed to be set up. There are good guardrails for your safety.

God never said, "Hey Eve, here's Adam and Bill..who is Adam's father for you too. These guys are to be your help mates along with Adam's two brothers, pet dog, and sister Jill. Nope."

Our twisted society says stuff like that, but not God.

"Hey, come on Kurt, why be so verklempt?"

So what does the Bible say about homosexuality Kurt?.. and say in the NT even? Is that ever acceptable when the person comes out of the closet like that? Are people actually born gay? Is it wrong for gay people to marry.. or to raise children?.. what about their parenting? Adoption?

What about abortion? Can there be healing after that? Yes. Is it really that big of a deal, Kurt? Really? And what if the mother's life is in danger.. is abortion always a sin?

I don't mind saying something "controversial" that might make a few people squirm a bit or feel all emotional and negative.. if it will help them. What's in the Bible is not controversial for real believers.

I'm not here to trigger or make people mad, but to be helpful for them. So I'm going to voice what some people might say is very controversial in this day, but listen up.. if God's Bible clearly teaches on it ..as it does on this stuff, something really needs to be said.

I've run into "woke" people who need a spiritual awakening.. who actually think they are cats, or see themselves as dogs, and other animals, and transgender even and they change their pronouns. They walk around on all fours on a leash with a halter. Kurt, do cats and dogs even go to heaven?

In our journey through life, we've encountered several people who claim the name of Christ while openly embracing a perverse and sinful lifestyle that God in His Word clearly rejects. Some people we pray for and really want to see get saved (for their sake) say that they are idolatrous believers (Uhh.. you cannot be that, Barney), or claim to be "gay Christians with gay pastors," or "straight adulterous Christians," or "fornicating Christians." Those people are not real Christians according to God in the Bible.

Kurt, what about sex in general? Well, it can be good in its proper context -- God thought it up. If He created it like He did.. it's good cuz He is good.

Sure, sex can even be blessed by God (and often as you in your marriage both like). Sure, in the proper place.. which is in a marriage man woman relationship. Period. That's it!

The Bible commands, "Give honor to marriage, and remain faithful to one another in marriage. God will surely judge people who are immoral and those who commit adultery. Don’t love money; be satisfied with what you have. For God has said, “I will never fail you. I will never abandon you.” So we can say with confidence, “The LORD is my helper, so I will have no fear. What can mere people do to me?” Remember your leaders who taught you the word of God. Think of all the good that has come from their lives, and follow the example of their faith." Hebrews 13:4-7 nlt

Have you been physically abused? Don't let yourself be abused anymore -- God wants you away from that abuse. Are you in a marriage?.. then seek to always remain faithful to God and to one another. Don't be abused if you are abused, get away to some wise godly counsel.

If you are married, then show respect -- pray together and stay together. God will surely judge people who are immoral, manipulative or abusive. Yes, those who fornicate or commit adultery will be judged.

Be sober and think soberly. "For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you." Romans 12:3

"Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God. For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but think of yourself with sober judgment, according to the measure of faith God has given you." Romans 12:2, 3

The Bible says, "Drink water from your own cistern, running water from your own well. Should your springs overflow in the streets, your streams of water in the public squares? Let them be yours alone, never to be shared with strangers. May your fountain be blessed, and may you rejoice in the wife of your youth. A loving doe, a graceful deer—may her breasts satisfy you always, may you ever be intoxicated with her love. Why, my son, be intoxicated with another man’s wife? Why embrace the bosom of a wayward woman? For your ways are in full view of the Lord, and he examines all your paths." Proverbs 5:15-21 niv

Sometimes people will characterize "sex" as only for procreation. And some so-called Christians and church denominators teach this, "It's just there for reproduction" they say, but that's not true.

Indeed, we wouldn't be here without it, but it's also for pleasure in its proper place. Pray together and be blessed. You know that God also gives it to us as a way to express our oneness. Sure, when a husband and wife come together sexually this can really glorify the Lord. A oneness takes place. Sex can most hurt Him when it happens wrong, or it can really glorify Him when you both follow God's plan. Don't opt to live outside His divine order.

"Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and make them members of a prostitute? Never!" 1 Corinthians 6:15 esv

Please realize, Christians, that your bodies are parts of Christ? He bought you at a price. Should a man take his body, which belongs to Christ, and join it into a prostitute? No, never ever, cuz if you join yourself to a prostitute, you become one with her. How moronic would that be!? Very moronic! So run away from all sexual sin. Protect your eyes, your mind, your ears, and stay pure. Protect others. God will bless you.

Does God really hate sin? Hey Buckeroo, if you and I don't hate sin like God hates it.. if we don't love righteousness like he loves it (I don't mean self-righteousness) then guess what.. there is room for growth.

Yes, so many stubbornly go their own perverse way and actually believe they are right with God as if living like that in a particular sin is somehow good. As if it were possible for people to live in such perverse filth of the world with ongoing rebellion against God's word ..while still walking righteously. Do things His way instead of your way. We are all his creations, but we are not all His children. Be born into His family.

God wants all people to repent and believe in Jesus so that he can forgive and save them, but he will never approve of sin and sinful thoughts..or sinful lifestyles. He never will because He is holy, just, and unchanging.

Scripture is clear: there is no such thing as a Christian who remains unrepentant in their willful sin.

Do you have questions, simply read your Bible. God has answers for you.

Q: What does the Bible have to say about the definition of the family, about homosexuality, about strip clubs, about premarital sex, or extramarital sex ..or with swingers (it's also not smart), about abortion, about capital punishment and things like this in today’s society? Simply read your Bible.

God has a plan for every person.. for every baby, born or not yet born

The Deception of Sin and the Love of the Truth

The Apostle Paul warns of a coming time when people will reject the truth and be deceived by who?.. by the actual Antichrist:

"They perish because they did not receive the love of the truth so as to be saved." (2 Thessalonians 2:10)

Please be loving the truth—fully embracing it, clinging to it, and allowing it to transform you. Jesus Christ Himself is the Way, Truth and Life -- The Only Way In.

"I am the Way, and the Truth, and the Life; no one comes to the Father except through Me." (John 14:6)

Many of those who reject Christ and the gospel do so not out of ignorance but because they love their sin more than they love the truth. "She who loves pleasure is dead while she lives." Jesus declared:

"This is the judgment, that the Light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the Light, for their deeds were evil." (John 3:19)

The Consequence of Rejecting Truth

When people persist in rejecting the gospel, God allows them to be further deceived.. deluded even, giving them over to their own desires. Paul describes this terrifying reality:

"For this reason God will send upon them a deluding influence so that they will believe what is false, in order that they all may be judged who did not believe the truth, but took pleasure in wickedness." (2 Thessalonians 2:11-12)

This is not without precedent. Pharaoh opted to harden his heart against God, and in response, God firmed up his choice. He further hardened him, sealing his fate (Exodus 8:15, 32; 9:34; 10:1, 20). Likewise, in Isaiah’s day, God pronounced judgment on those who persistently rejected His Word:

"Render the hearts of this people insensitive, their ears dull, and their eyes dim, otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts, and return and be healed." (Isaiah 6:9-10)

There comes a time when those who persistently reject the truth will no longer be able to believe it.. they won't want to. Their love for sin blinds them to the Light.

God The Father's Call For You Is To Christ And Then To True Discipleship With His Church

A true disciple of Christ does not seek to cling to anything more than to Christ. Not hold onto any sin while claiming they are saved. Jesus made it clear:

"He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me; and he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me." (Matthew 10:37)

We are to worship Him alone. To follow Christ is to love Him above all else—to turn away from any and all sin, not to justify it.. NOT ANY. Those who profess faith but refuse to surrender to the Lordship of Christ simply deceive themselves. Jesus Himself warned:

"Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter." (Matthew 7:21)

The Urgency of Repentance

Ditch your delusions. Now is the time to pause.. to examine our minds and hearts. You can come to Jesus as you are right here and now. Come to.. or return to Him! Are we embracing the truth, or are we clinging to deception? Lord, please save and change me. Jesus calls all who are burdened by sin to HONESTLY come to Him in repentance and faith:

"Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest." (Matthew 11:28)

The gospel is not merely an invitation; it is really a command to repent and believe. For your own good. Those who continue in unrepentant sin, refusing to submit to Christ, prove that they do not truly belong to Him. But for those who humble themselves, forsaking sin, and turning to Christ in faith, there is full forgiveness, full restoration, and eternal life.

Say no to the illicit drugs and drunkenness. Say no to the lies. There is no need to revise and twist history at all. People have sinned, but we all can be forgiven. Learn what's real. See reality the way God sees it. Think soberly.

Choose life today. Don't put it off. Let us be a people who really love the truth, who abide closely in Christ, and walk in the pure holiness to which He has called us. In heaven one day we will live as holy as He is holy -- fully sanctified. The world is so deceived, the delusion will be far more severe real soon in the Tribulation years ahead. We who belong to Christ must stand firm in Him, boldly proclaiming His truth in love and with urgency pointing all to the only Savior, Jesus Christ, the Living Word of God.
