There is a real love that God really hates. Are you carnally minded or merely religious.. instead of regenerated inside and growing by God's Word and Spirit? Are you spiritually worldly and love the evil corrupt world system? Stop it please!

God is love, but there are some things he hates and we should hate those things too.. like spiritual compromise in public or in private. Sin is stupid and it destroys people.

So true, but a love God hates.. really Kurt? That might sound so strange and counterintuitive to us. What!? (Yes, it’s a love of that invisible spiritual evil world system around us). He hates it and we are to go against our old fleshly nature and evil peer pressure and hate it as well.

I say: If you or I don’t love the Father and people to the same degree that Jesus does.. if we don’t hate Satan, his evil plans, and this corrupt world system to the same degree that Jesus does (I mean just like He does even today, then guess what, Sport.. there is indeed room for growth. Cuz Jesus loves with a perfect love and he hates with a perfect hatred. He hates this world system because it is completely contrary to and it opposes His Father’s purpose. Let’s love not this corrupt world system for it is indeed passing away.

We are to indeed love the people in the world, and I praise God for His beautiful creation on earth.. even though it’s been pretty tainted and marred in this fallen condition here. Sin sadly does that to so much around us.

The selfless love of God, as you well know, is a theme throughout all of Scripture. Yes, it is particularly emphasized in the New Testament. God’s love is manifest in both common grace saving grace. Yes, it’s manifest in redemptive grace too. God is a God of perfect agape love.

But because God loves perfectly, He also hates perfectly. The two are actually inseparable, to love perfectly is to hate perfectly. That is to say, if you love something, you hate whatever threatens that something. If you love someone, you hate whoever threatens that someone. And the greater your love, the greater your hatred. The more your affection for what is right, the more your disaffection for what is wrong. That’s why Psalm 97:10 says, “Hate evil, you who love the Lord.” And Psalm 119:104 says, “From your precepts I get understanding; therefore, I hate every false way.”

If I hate error to the same degree that Jesus does.. it’s my love for the truth that causes me to hate that error. If I hate sin to the same degree that Jesus Christ does, it’s my love for righteousness that makes me hate sin.

It was God’s love manifest in Jesus Christ for what was right that made Jesus make a whip and cleanse the temple, because He hated the corruption that He saw and what He found in that place that had been turned into a den of thieves at other's expense. The Psalmist said, “I love your law, but I hate those that are double-minded. I love your law, but I hate those people who vacillate, sometimes showing affection for your law and sometimes not.”

Psalm 119:128 says, “I esteem all your precepts, so I hate every false way.”

In Psalm 119:163,towards the end of the chapter says, “I hate and despise falsehood; I love your law.”

That’s just the way it is. Whatever it is that you love most causes you to hate whatever is contrary to that. And the absolutely perfect love of God demands an absolutely perfect hatred of those things which are contrary to that perfect love. God loves perfectly and He hates perfectly. It's 100 percent true!

The fact is this, you and I love imperfectly and we hate imperfectly, but nonetheless this reflects a shadow of what we see in the perfection of God. Need an illustration of this from the Old Testament. Look in the book of Proverbs, it's a familiar portion of Scripture found in the sixth chapter. Proverbs 6:16 says there are six things which the Lord hates; yes, seven which are an abomination to Him, and then going from the six to the seven was just a Hebrew way of speaking to put in emphasis. There are six things which the Lord REALLY hates, even seven which are an abomination to Him. He hates to see people He loves destroyed by sin.

The Bible says, "Do not love the world [of sin that opposes God and His precepts], nor the things that are in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world—the lust and sensual craving of the flesh and the lust and longing of the eyes and the boastful pride of life [pretentious confidence in one’s resources or in the stability of earthly things]—these do not come from the Father, but are from the world." 1 John 2:15-16 amp

It says, "For God so loved the world (all the sinners like me in this world, past and present), that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16 nkjv #emph.mine

Our love for the Lord really ought to make this twisted world’s system so repugnant and repellant to us. We should be reminded every single day that, as John said, our citizenship is in heaven—that we’re pilgrims in hostile territory. Just passin' through here. Let's NOT foster an antagonistic footing with the world against what or who God loves, but let's do stay clear-eyed when it comes to the attractions and allurements it offers. Cuz the world and the things in the world can still allure us believers will we let them do that. We need not ever succumb to Mr. Lu-Cifer's enticements that have helped no one ever. The devil lies, steals and kills--it's who the deceiver is and what he still does. Focus not on him. Instead let's dead-bolt fix our hearts and minds on the Living Word and Christ's God’s Kingdom. In fact, let's all be vigilant and diligent to be about the service God has for us work for whatever time the Lord grants us this time.

When the Bible does speak of God’s hatred, the object of His hatred is sin and wickedness but can we separate all sinners from the sin they so tightly cling to. I never want to hate any human.

Among the things God hates are idolatry (Deuteronomy 12:31; 16:22), child sacrifice, sexual perversion (Leviticus 20:1–23), and those who do evil (Psalm 5:4–6; 11:5). Proverbs 6:16–19 lists seven things the Lord hates: pride, lying, murder, evil plots, those who love evil, false witnesses, and troublemakers. Notice that this passage does not include just things that God hates; it includes people as well. The reason is simple: sin cannot be separated from the sinner except by the forgiveness available in Christ alone. God hates lying, yes, but lying always involves a person—a liar—who chooses to lie. God cannot judge the lie without also judging the liar.

The Bible clearly teaches that God loves the people of the world (John 3:16). God spared wicked Nineveh, bringing them to repentance (Jonah 3). God takes no pleasure in the death of the wicked (Ezekiel 18:32). He is patient to an extreme, “not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance” (2 Peter 3:9). This is all proof of love—God wants what is best for His creation. At the same time, Psalm 5:5 says about God, “You hate all evildoers” (ESV). Psalm 11:5 is even harsher: “The wicked, those who love violence, he hates with a passion.”

Before a person repents and believes in the Lord Jesus Christ, he is the enemy of God (Colossians 1:21). Yet, even before he is saved, he is loved by God (Romans 5:8)—i.e., God sacrificed His only begotten Son on his behalf. The question then becomes, what happens to someone who spurns God’s love, refuses to repent, and stubbornly clings to his sin? Answer: God will judge him, because God must judge sin, and that means judging the sinner. These are the “wicked” whom God hates—those who persist in their sin and rebellion, even in the face of the grace and mercy of God in Christ.

David writes, “You are not a God who delights in wickedness; evil may not dwell with you” (Psalm 5:4, ESV, emphasis added). By contrast, those who take refuge in God will “be glad” and “ever sing for joy” (verse 11). In fact, both Psalm 5 and Psalm 11 draw a stark contrast between the righteous (those who take refuge in God) and the wicked (those who rebel against God). The righteous and the wicked make different choices and have different destinies. Heaven or hell, we each choose. I say choose Jesus cuz he’s the way in the better place.

What else does God hate? God hates, (in the old Authorized version says), “a proud look.” (The NAS says), “haughty eyes,” (the actual Hebrew says) “lofty eyes” - that is to say, looking from above down with disdain on those who are beneath you in value and significance. It indicates a swelling kind of pride that fills the heart and shows disdain for others, as if they were of less significance.

Pride is the first thing God hates and it’s listed first because it really is the fountain of all kinds of sin. All kinds of sin, no matter what the sin is, reflect pride - attitude of disobedience and rebellion against God’s law. Everything else is sort of built on the basic iniquity of pride, self-will.

Psalm 18:27 says that God will abase those who have haughty eyes.

Psalm 73:6 describes the wicked as having pride as their necklace and they are those whom God will cast down to destruction. God says, “No one who has a haughty look and an arrogant heart will I endure.”

Isaiah 2:11 says, “The proud look of man will be abased and the loftiness of man will be humbled, and the Lord alone will be exalted in that day.” God is going to bring about a judgment day to all who are proud.

Well, in addition to haughty eyes or a proud look, go back to verse 16 again and you will see that God also hates (in verse 17) a lying tongue. God is the God of truth; God hates lies. Then, you will find in verse 17, God hates hands that shed innocent blood. He hates murderers. He hates those who have a cruel disposition.

The person who will lust and who will, wanting that lust so severely, kill in order that he may obtain that lust, as James describes it, the kind of person who takes a life, the kind of person who wreaks havoc on someone else is hated by God. And then verse 18 says God hates a heart that devises wicked plans. God hates the fabrications that we talked about this morning, the machinations, the imaginations of that profoundly human fallenness that corrupts our rationality. God hates the devising, scheming, planning, fabricating that turns the heart into the workshop of wickedness.

God also hates feet that run rapidly to evil - that is to say, not the person who witlessly stumbles into things, not the person who, because he’s not circumspect or wise or watching, trips and falls into some iniquity, but those who purposefully plot and scheme and run to evil. They are in a hurry to fulfill their clever devisings. God hates a false witness, in verse 19, who utter lies. God hates perjurers. God hates false witnesses who lie and whose lies are destructive of other people and whose lies assault justice, as well as truth. And amazingly at the end of verse 19, God hates one who spreads strife among brothers. God hates troublemakers, people who are divisive.

You know, there’s a certain kind of crescendoing happening here. It seems on the one hand that haughty eyes would be the starting point of sin because sin is really a reflection of one’s pride and rebellion against God. It proceeds through what we would assume to be the worst of things, a lying tongue, murder, but before we know it, it starts to get into things that are more familiar to us, devising wicked plans, rushing into sin, lying about someone else, bringing damage to them, and that seemingly popular sin, making trouble by using your mouth to sow discord among brothers.

There are other things God hates. God hates divorce - Malachi 2:16, That has hurt and damaged so many lives and families!

He says, “I hate divorce.” Jeremiah 44:3 and verse 4 of chapter 44 says God hates idolatry.

Read Amos 5:21 where it says God hates hypocrisy. See Revelation 2:6 and 2:15, God hates false religion. And the reason God hates all these things is because they are opposite all the things that God loves, all the things that are consistent with His holy nature.

There is another thing that God really hates and that takes us to our passage. God hates the evil world system.  God hates the world system and He hates what those who love the world system are all about. “If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.” So choose to love Him most and don’t love the world. God literally sets Himself against those who love the world.
